But this? This was a way to live for myself and not just rely on a job tied to my men. This was mine… with some help from Valentina and the guys, of course.

Could I do it?

The thought barely flitted through my mind before I was shoving it away. Fuck that. I was going to be amazing at this and it was going to be perfect.

My confidence was back now that I stopped tying my worth to my fertility. I was no less of an omega and they wouldn’t be anything other than supportive.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Bane asked as he walked out of the clubhouse. He matched the grin on my face and looked almost relieved to see me happy. I couldn’t blame him after the chaos we’d been through recently.

“We need to talk.”

Chapter

Fourteen

Bane

“Iquit.”

I blinked slowly at my mate who stood there confidently, smiling widely with sparkling blue eyes. It took a few seconds to fully comprehend what she was saying but when I did I snagged her wrist and tugged her close.

“Did something happen at your last shift? Tell me who and—”

“No, no. Nothing like that,” she hurried to reassure me. Eliza tugged at her arm but instead of stepping away when I released her she wrapped her arms around my neck. “But as much as I love working at the club’s bar I need something that’s just for me.”

“Sunshine, what—?”

“Valentina bought me a food truck,” she said softly against my lips before kissing me soundly.

Not letting her pull away from me so easily I grabbed her ass and squeezed while deepening the kiss. She moaned and tangledher tongue with mine. If not for the rest of the club starting to leave the building behind me I’d claim her here and now.

Fucking hell. It’s been too long since I’ve felt her against me.

“We can talk later,” I growled, picking her up but was stopped in my tracks when I heard Loki call out for us.

We’d been best friends for years.

In this moment, though, I wanted to snap his damn neck.

“Sorry to interrupt,” Loki smirked at us.

Fucking bastard.

“Why don’t you tell him what you just told me, Eliza?” I urged her, hoping like hell she told him just like she told me.

“I quit the bar. Effective immediately,” she told him proudly, rolling her hips against my hard cock. Fucking tease.

“Excuse me?” Loki growled while the other members smartly dispersed, except for Viper and Romeo who had just walked up to join us. Both men looked concerned and confused by the opposite reactions from me and the alpha.

“Oh good, you’re here, Romeo!” Eliza said excitedly when she saw Romeo. “I’ll definitely need your help.”

“Back up,” Loki held up a hand as I put our omega down on her feet again. She let out a soft whimper of protest. She was equal parts excited and turned on, but one thing at a time.

“Me?” Romeo asked at the same time.

Viper—for his part—looked interested but distracted, his dark eyes far away as he struggled to stay in the moment. Not that I was surprised. The meeting we just had hadn’t been pretty. His old chapter was still pissed that he had just left them to stay here. Both he and Loki were starting to question if the New York chapter would just let him go without some kind of retaliation.

You can’t just walk away from the club, much less being president of a chapter. But even naming his replacement hadn’t quieted the rumblings we were hearing lately.
