Sofia didn't know what was happening or how Daddy managed to get into her apartment. Why was he here? Why was she shaking so much? She was so cold, and it didn't make any sense because she had the covers wrapped around herself. When she fell asleep last night, it wasn't cold but now she was freezing and couldn't stop shaking.
"You're okay, Little one," Daddy whispered as he helped her sit up.
She shivered as the air hit her skin, and she whined.
"C-cold," she whimpered. "Daddy."
"I know, Little one," he replied. "Let me go get a thicker blanket."
In the back of her mind, she knew he wasn't going to find a thicker blanket in her apartment unless he brought one. She hadn't gone out yet and purchased one, but it was on her list whenever she had the money or until she moved out of this apartment.
She heard him cursing and closed her eyes, snuggling into Trixie as her upper body started to sway.
"Shit, Little one," Daddy said. "You shouldn't be living like this."
"No choice," she whimpered.
Sofia didn't realize how expensive it was to live in the United States. She thought it would be cheaper than Chile, but she was so wrong. There were so many taxes that came out of nowhere. Rent was more expensive and the cheapest place was in a bad part of town.
"I wish you would've told me," he whispered. "I would've taken you in."
She didn't want to be a charity case to him. Sofia wanted to prove to herself that she could do this but with each passing day, she was realizing that she couldn't.
"I couldn't find a blanket," he said. "Here's my jacket. Can you let go of Trixie for a second so I can help you put it on?"
She didn't want to let go of Trixie but she knew she would be warmer if she had his jacket on. Or she hoped she would. She let go of Trixie and felt Daddy put his jacket on her. It was so warm and she could smell him.
It reminded her of Thieves and it smelt delicious.
"I'm taking you home," he softly said. "I'm going to take care of you there."
She wasn't going to argue with him right now. She remembered his house, and she loved it. It felt like a home and so safe.
"Do you need anything?" he asked.
Sofia grabbed Trixie and held her close. She didn't know what she would need and right now she didn't want to think about anything.
"I d-don't know," she whispered.
"Sit here for a couple of minutes while I grab some of your onesies," he said.
She let go of Trixie, crying out and grabbing onto his arm. She didn't want him to leave her alone.
"Daddy," she whimpered and held tighter onto his arm.
"It's okay, Little one," he softly said. "I'm right here. I'm just going to grab a couple of your onesies."
She shook her head. She didn't want him to leave.
"No."
"Do you want Daddy to hold you?" he asked.
She let go of his arm, grabbed Trixie before she made grabby hands at him. Her hands were shaking in the air as she held them there, but she didn't care.
"Oh baby," he said as he picked her up. "Daddy's got you."
She snuggled into his embrace, putting her face into his neck. She wanted to feel his skin against hers. Sofia tugged at his shirt with her free hand.
