“Now, lay your head down and get some rest while I finish up this paperwork,” Daddy said as he pulled the blanket over top of her.

“I’ll leave. I hope you get better soon, Tiny,” Dominic said. “I know you might hate me at the moment, but later you’ll thank me.”

She huffed out a breath and didn’t say anything. He had gotten her in trouble. How was she going to thank him later for that? Maybe he should get his bottom spanked for tattletaling on her.

“Thank you for mentioning it,” Daddy softly said.

Sofia closed her eyes and heard them speaking more, but didn’t pay any attention to it. Putting her thumb in her mouth, she started to suck on it and fell asleep.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

JAXSON

Jaxson let out a sigh as he sat down at his desk. He didn’t expect today to go how it went. He was expecting a smooth afternoon.

But that wasn’t what happened.

He didn’t know what compelled him to walk downstairs and into the main room when he did, but he had gone anyway. He was thankful because he wouldn’t have caught Sofia and Dominic arguing.

Jaxson had seen red when he saw Dominic grab her arm but as the situation unfolded, he was partially glad. He still didn’t like that another man was touching her, but if he hadn’t she would’ve gotten away.

Not that she could go very far. She had been coming in to cover for Monty and then she had her shift. He didn’t like that she was working so much, but maybe she was in a tight position.

Jaxson didn’t like the thought of that either. He wanted her to flourish and to live comfortably, not worrying about when she was going to eat next or if she would be able to pay her rent.

Granted, he had no clue if that was how she lived. He had wanted to ask several times, but he didn’t want to make her uncomfortable or push her away from him. Leo and Oliver hadasked several times where she lived and she never answered them.

Where could she possibly live?

He was trying to wrack his brain for places she wouldn’t want either of them to know about. She could be staying at the apartments a couple blocks away but he highly doubted that. They were cheap places, and she was getting paid plenty more than that.

Jaxson opened his computer and pulled up her file. She had mentioned that she was going to update her application when she found a place and he wanted to see if she had done that. Maybe that could tell him where she was living.

When she first moved here, she had mentioned staying at the motel, but she said apartments earlier so she couldn’t be staying there anymore. Jaxson had wanted to pay for a better place when she mentioned the run down motel, but she didn’t know him and she was new to the country. He didn’t want to scare her and run her off when he felt a connection with her.

He had bit his tongue several times when she would say something or he would see something. He needed to take it slow with her, but he didn’t want to. Jaxson wanted her as his and he wanted to take care of her. Make sure that she was okay, getting enough food, sleep, and was safe.

It didn’t seem like she was right now and that hurt him.

Every Dom wanted to make sure that any submissive was safe and taken care of. And knowing that she wasn’t, broke him.

How could he have prevented this? Could he have pushed her a little more and gotten more information? Could he have followed her when she got off of her shift?

He let out a sigh when he realized that her residence was still blank on her application. He needed to remember to get her to fill it in and make sure it was an actual place.

The other night he had gotten a bad feeling when she said she had a ride, but he ignored it. She had said it several times and thought that if it wasn’t true, that one of the bouncers would say something to him. He was so wrong, and he wished he could go back in time and insist on walking her out.

Maybe her getting mugged wouldn’t have happened.

Jaxson looked over at Sofia sleeping on his couch. Her thumb was still in her mouth as she sucked on it. He needed to get her a pacifier, but he didn’t want to leave her in his office alone. What if she woke up and panicked? What if someone walked into his office while he was gone?

That wasn’t going to work.

He was going to stay here and finish up what he had left and then take her home, where he could watch over her and make sure she was okay. There he had pacifiers that were never used that she could have.

His office door opened and Leo and Oliver walked in. What were they doing back in his office? Normally they were out teaching people how Shibari worked or doing a scene with a sub.

“Please be quiet,” he whispered. He didn’t want Sofia to wake up. Jaxson wanted her to have as much rest as she could get because he didn’t know when the last time she had slept.
