“I’m fine,” she tiredly whispered.

But she wasn’t fine. How was she fine after she got mugged and traumatized like that?

Leo gave her a funny look, and she tried to smile. The more she laid her head on Jaxson’s shoulder, the more she grew tired.

“I’m going to take the next couple of days off and take care of her,” Jaxson said. “Make sure she is healing up nicely.”

“Good idea,” Leo said.

“Could one of you find a replacement for her while she’s out the next couple of days?”

Sofia whined. She didn’t like that she was taking the next couple of days off. She needed every penny she could get.

“Shush,” Jaxson said, running his hand up and down her back. “You’re my responsibility now and there will be no further arguments about this.”

She was going to fight that battle later, she was just too tired to do it now. It wouldn’t hurt to let him take care of her tonight and then leave tomorrow to go back to work. Maybe all she needed was one night of being taken care of and she would be all better.

“Honey, you let Jaxson take care of you,” Oliver said. “If I hear you didn’t, you won’t be getting those cookies anymore.”

Her eyes went wide. He was the one that put the cookies there every shift? She had assumed that it was Monty.

“Yeah, it was me, Little girl,” he said. “You let your Daddy take care of you for the next couple of days. He just wants to make sure you’re alright and healed.”

“What is he talking about?” Jaxson asked. “Tell Daddy.”

They kept referring to Jaxson as Daddy and he felt like her Daddy. Everything in her wanted to start calling him Daddy, butshe wasn’t sure. Would he still want her after he found out she had been walking home every night?

Sofia didn’t think it would hurt to call him Daddy in her head right now. He didn’t know, and he kept referring to himself as Daddy. It was okay, right? She didn’t want to think about it much with the slight headache she was getting.

“Every time she had a shift, I would leave a little packet of cookies on her locker where she kept her stuff,” Oliver said. “I give Monty gummy bears. Thought after having an entire night of working, they should have a little treat.”

Sofia pulled her head away from her Daddy’s shoulders and looked at him. Was he mad Oliver had given her those? She didn’t always eat them, but sometimes she did and they were delicious.

“I need to finish something up really quick and then we’ll be on our way,” Daddy said. “Can you two find someone to take Lucy’s place? She was supposed to go home an hour ago.”

“Sure,” Leo said before he turned to Sofia. “You get better now. Follow Daddy’s rules.”

She blushed and looked away from them. She could hear the little chuckle Leo and Oliver gave before they headed out of the room.

“Now, let’s get you all comfortable on the couch while I finish up my paperwork,” Daddy said. “Take a little nap before we head home.”

For once, she couldn’t disagree with taking a nap. It sounded glorious.

Sofia watched as he walked over to his desk and pulled out a blanket before coming back to her.

“Do you want to lay down?” he asked.

She nodded her head and slowly positioned herself on the couch, resting her head on the throw pillow.

“Jaxson?” Dominic said.

Sofia’s head shot up, and she watched Dominic walk into the room. What was he doing here?

“Can I help you with something?” Daddy asked.

“I thought it was weird, but as I stood out there, letting people in, I thought to myself. You didn’t know,” Dominic said.

She gave Dom a weird look. What did Daddy not know?
