“It’s going to be okay,” he whispered as he held her in his arms. “I’m going to take her to my office. Are you good?”
“I’m good. Just make sure you find out who did it,” Dominic said.
“We will, don’t worry.”
Sofia felt Jaxson start to walk, but she didn’t lift her head from his shoulder. She didn’t want anyone to see her right now, especially with her bruised face. There would be too many questions and she was already feeling overwhelmed.
“Jaxson!” Lucy said. “Who are you holding?”
“Sofia,” he replied and continued to walk.
“Leave her be. Could you help me with something?” she asked.
He stopped walking and turned around. “No. Find another Dom to help you. You can clearly see that I’m busy right now.”
Sofia cringed into his shoulder. She knew Lucy would not like being dismissed like that, especially since it involved her. She honestly had no clue what Lucy had against her, and she hadn’t had the chance or courage to ask her yet.
“But-,” Lucy started.
“No buts,” he said. “Find another Dom if you need something and please don’t bother me.”
Before Lucy could say anything else, Jaxson started to walk towards his office again. Sofia’s whole body had gone stiff as Jaxon talked to Lucy.
“You’re okay,” he whispered. “You can relax.”
She tried to, but it was so hard. She was overwhelmed, scared, and nervous about everything.
Jaxson sat her down on a couch while she clung to his shirt. She didn’t want to let go of him yet, but he was releasing his hold. Why was he letting her go?
“I’m not going anywhere. I’m just putting you down so I can see your face,” he softly said.
She let go of his shirt and snuggled into the couch. Her body started to shake as she thought about everything that had happened in the past day.
Jaxson crouched down in front of her, resting his hands on her thighs as he looked at her. “Can you tell me what happened? What really happened?”
Sofia opened her mouth, ready to tell him what happened, but her breathing picked up. Was he going to believe her? How was he going to react when she told him she walked home every night after her shift and lied?
Every Dom or Domme took lying very seriously. She knew what she did was wrong, but Sofia believed anyone would’ve done it if they were in her situation. She didn’t want them to know where she lived because it wasn’t the best place. And if she told them she didn’t have enough money for a cab, they would have insisted on driving her.
Something she didn’t want.
“Sofia?” he softly asked. “Can you take a deep breath for me?”
She hadn’t realized that she had started to hyperventilate as her mind went all over the place. She took a slow breath in and let it out.
“Good girl,” he said. “Now, can you tell me?”
“I,” she took a breath in. “I. I got.”
Tears were streaming down her face as she thought about getting mugged again. Everything was so fresh and she didn’t really have time to process everything. Also, walking down the same street when she walked to work hadn’t helped her at all.
“You’re okay,” he softly said. “You’re safe now.”
She knew she was safe right now, but what about later when she went home? What if the mugger ran but hid so he could see where she lived? Was she going to have to find a new place to live?
Sofia didn’t know where that would be with her tiny budget. Maybe she could find a women's shelter she could stay at for a couple of nights until she figured something out. They have security, right?
She knew nothing about women's shelters in the United States and didn’t even know if they were any here in Springfield.
