I lick my lips as Angie reappears with a croissant and coffee.

"Do you think you could sit next to Brady?" she asks as she sets my breakfast on Brady's side of the table. "Adrian is going to join us. I thought we could all eat together."

"Yeah," I awkwardly say as I slip out of the booth. Brady makes room for me as I slide in next to him. My thigh leans against his but neither of us moves away from the other.

"So," Angie flashes her eyebrows at us, "what'd I miss?"

"We were just talking about my ex-husband," I rush to get out. I don't know why I suddenly feel so nervous. Brady and I weren't doing anything wrong.

Fine, maybe we were. Maybe we shouldn't be talking about how big of a distraction we are to each other.

Brady rests his arm on the top of the booth behind me. It feels intimate. Too intimate in front of Angie. But she doesn't seem bothered by our closeness.

"Why did you break up?" Angie directs to me.

"Uh," I swallow hard, "lots of reasons. I guess the final straw was when I realized I was doing all the work and he didn't care."

"Marriage is tough," Angie shrugs, "even when you share the load. I'm sorry it didn't work out."

I hitch my shoulder, brushing Brady's side as I do. "I'm not. I'm surprisingly OK with how things ended."

Angie smiles. "Some of us handle things better than others. You're moving on meanwhile Brady here bought a bar so he'd never forget thelove of his life."

Brady tenses beside me.

"I think it's sweet," I chance a glance at him. "To love someone so much that you don't want to forget them. That you want to always remember."

The corner of Brady's lips tip up as he gazes back at me.

Angie leans forward and rests her chin on her arm. "If Adrian left me, I'd burn this restaurant down."

Brady and I start laughing.

"I mean it," Angie raises her eyebrows. "I would leave a trail of destruction in my wake. The whole town would know."

"And some of us choose violence," I chuckle as I reach for my coffee.

"It's the Scorpio in me," Angie winks. "That vengeful nature."

"You can't blame everything on your zodiac sign," Brady groans.

"I can, too," Angie argues. "What about you, Iz? What are your thoughts on zodiac signs?"

"Well, according to Steve's and my zodiac signs, we were supposed to be perfect for each other. Now, we're divorced. So, I'm not sure I would put too much stock in what they say."

"You guys are no fun," Angie brushes a strand of dark hair off her shoulder. "No wonder Brady hired you. You two are so similar."

I hear Brady inhale sharply beside me. "Well, we are both Virgos."

"No way!" Angie leans forward. "You are?"

"Yeah," I click my tongue. "Brady's birthday is two days before mine."

"This explains so much," Angie's eyes widen. "It's why you two work so well together. I get it now."

"Breakfast is served," Adrian appears and sets a plate in front of Angie. He kisses the side of her face as he sits next to her.

"We were just talking about you," Angie gives him a big smile.
