“Not a problem. Now, get in your house before I leave. Wanna make sure you make it inside okay.”
She surprised them both by kissing him on the cheek, turning on her heel and running for her front door. She waved goodbye before closing and locking the door.
She’d not been completely honest with Darren. She did know why it hurt so much for Garrett or Tuck or whatever he went by now. Kylie had been half in love with the idiot since that first kiss. Every boy or man she ever dated after that was always compared to Garrett and always came up lacking. She’d always had this fantasy about him and now it was shattered.
As she got ready for bed, she supposed she should stop referring to him as Garrett and start thinking of him as Tuck. He obviously wasn’t the same person he was back then. Garrett was a boy she’d had a crush on. Tuck was a man who was out of her league. The best thing she could do would be to forget tonight ever happened. If her sister asked what happened after she left, Kylie would simply tell her…nothing.
As she snuggled into her bed, she made a vow to herself. The next time her inner voice tried to tell her to go for it, she was going to tell the bitch to shut the hell up.

6 WEEKS LATER
Kylie stared at her phone wondering what just happened. She’d just gotten a call from Race, the president of the Sons of Redemption MC, requesting that she stop by the clubhouse, he might have a job for her if she was interested. After the last time she’d helped his club out, she’d told herself never again. Not because the job was difficult or that the money wasn’t good. In fact, it had been exhilarating and exciting and the money had been more than generous. No, her problem had been being around Tuck again after so long. Not calling him Garrett was going to be weird and take some getting used to. He had been a hot teenager at eighteen, but holy hell, the man he was now, ten years later, was what caused women everywhere to have wet dreams. The biggest problem, though, was the feelings she always had for him.
“Who was that?” Beth asked before Kylie could set her phone on the table next to the laundry she’d been folding. Her sister had shown up this morning to hang out after dropping Nora and Caroline off at her in-laws. They’d wanted to take the girls to the movies this afternoon and wanted to make a day of it.
“It was Race from the Sons of Redemption.”
Beth’s face suddenly looked like she’d been sucking on a lemon. “Seriously? What did he want?”
“He wants me to come by and discuss a possible job.”
“You’re not going to go, are you?” Beth took a towel, folded it and added it to Kylie’s pile.
“Well, yes, I’m going to go.”
“Why?” She pulled another towel from the laundry basket to fold.
“Why not? The money last time was really good.” She took a stack of folded dish towels and put them in a drawer.
“Why not? Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because they’re into some shady shit and you could get hurt.” Beth picked a t-shirt out of the pile next, saw what it said on the front and laughed to herself. “Oh yeah. That was a good one.” She shook it out. “Where are your hangers?”
“In my bedroom closet. I’ll go get some.” Kylie hurried off to gather some hangers in the hopes Beth would have forgotten what they’d been talking about when she returned. She had no such luck.
“You’re seriously going to see what the job is about?” She watched her out of the corner of her eye while still managing to get the shirt on a hanger.
“Yes, I’m going to go see what the job is about.” Kylie snatched up a hanger and worked it through another shirt.
“What if Tuck is there?”
“I imagine it’s a possibility. If I see him, I’ll say hi.” Kylie really wished her sister would quit worrying about Tuck. She was worried that Kylie and Tuck would somehow get together and she’d get her heart broken.
She could have told her it was too late. When he’d called her by another woman’s name after they had sex, he’d crushed any hopes that there could be more between them. And if he hadn’t reached out to her in the last six weeks, he wasn’t going to.
As far as Beth was concerned, after she left Kylie with Tuck at Big Shots six weeks ago, the two of them had shared a drink, and a couple of dances, then he’d given her a ride home. She’d never told her sister they’d had sex. She didn’t do one-night stands and she was too embarrassed to tell her sister that after years of imagining what it would be like to be with him, she’d found out that it was way better than anything she could have imagined and he hadn’t wanted more.
“I hope you know what you’re doing, getting involved with that biker club. Please tell me you’ll be careful and stay safe.”
Beth held her eyes, waiting for her promise. “Fine. I promise to be careful and stay safe.” She folded a pair of jeans. “What exactly do you think I’ll be doing for them? Whatever it is will involve me working with a computer. You don’t need to worry.”
“Thank you.” She came around the table, her arms outstretched, pulling her into a tight hug. “Love you, Kylie Jo.”
“Ugh. Love you, too.” Her sister only ever called her by her middle name when she was thoroughly pissed off at her or was trying to get her way with her.
“Gotta go. Alan’s taking half a day off work so we can spend some quality time together while the girls are at his parents’ house.” Her saucy grin left no doubt as to her meaning. Quality time for her sister was code for she was going to go home to get some.
Kylie walked her to the door and told her to have fun.
