Tyler: Anywhere we want it to go.
Mira: I’m not looking for a relationship.
She wasn’t. Her job, her career, was the most important thing right now. She wasn’t interested in settling down, having babies and a white picket fence.
Tyler: Then we keep it casual. We have a connection, you felt it like I did.
Mira: And yet it took you this long to reach out to me.
Tyler: I said I’m sorry, give me another chance. You know you want to xx
God, the man was impossible. Did she want to? A no-strings bit of fun?
Tyler: Mira? I miss you. Why aren’t you here?
Mira: I’m working.
Tyler: Oh. Doing what?
Mira: Something for Sam.
Tyler: Wish you were here. I’m getting hard just texting with you
Oh, dear God.
Mira: Tyler, we’re not doing that
Tyler: Just telling you how you make me feel. Are you warm, talking to me?
Mira: Stop it. I mean it. I told you we’re done like that. Let’s just keep it professional
Tyler: I don’t think that’s really what you want
Mira: It is Tyler, so drop it.
This time there was no immediate reply. Mira waited. Eventually, he responded.
Tyler: OK. Food is ready. Talk soon. X
Mira looked at the phone, completely confused. Did that mean he was dropping it and they were going back to being colleagues? Shit, why did that make her feel even more disappointed than before? Throwing the phone in her purse, she focused back on her task.
Epilogue
Ryan held Sophie’s hand as they walked around the back of Dex’s house where everyone was gathered.
“I guess we’re a little late,” he whispered in Sophie’s ear.
“That’s your fault.”
“Er, I believe you got naked and joined me in the shower.”
Sophie smiled at him. “I didn’t hear you complaining.”
“You never will.” He winked at her as they stepped onto the deck. Chloe was already there.
“Hey, Sis. Glad you could finally join us.” Chloe grinned. Sophie blushed and chose to ignore the comment.
“Chloe, you look great. You been here long?” Ryan leaned over, kissing her cheek.
