I stare into Royce’s eyes for a few seconds longer before flipping my knife closed, slipping it back up my sleeve and then straightening my suit out as I stride back to my chair.
I sink back as a text message appears on my phone, and I reach for it before placing it on my knee beneath the table, noticing it’s from Wren.
"Are you home yet?"
I raise my eyes and peer around the table to see that everyone has resumed the meeting, and then I reply to her.
"I take it you're not."
She responds instantly.
"What makes you say that?"
"Because you'd know I'm still stuck in this shitty fucking business meeting."
"When will you be back?"
"What are you, my fucking nanny, or Cree’s?"
"Lol, I just wanted to see you."
My jaw tightens with annoyance because of her sweet fucking messages.
"You want to see my dick, you mean?"
"And that, yes, since I can't seem to get that kiss out of my head, I'm still throbbing from it."
As she attempts to push my buttons in an important business meeting, I release a tense breath and decide to push hers back.
"You want to play fucking games with me, do you slut?"
There's a brief pause before she finally responds.
"That depends on what it is, Arlo. Does it involve me coming hard completely at your mercy?"
I raise an eyebrow in response to her sexy brazenness before glancing around the room, paranoid that people can hear what my little slut is saying to me, but they obviously can't, so I continue.
"You'll definitely be getting fucking wet. Text me where you are, and I'll pick you up in one hour."
"But I have my own car."
"I don't give a fuck; I'll pick you up."
When she messages me an address for a diner across town, I place my phone face down on the table and continue to listen in on this bullshit meeting.
I'm still waiting at the diner with Lil and Jasper, waiting for Arlo and I'm definitely enjoying both of their company. Jasper is actually really nice; he is a bit cheeky, but I admire how he treats Lil.
It makes me wonder if Arlo was ever this relaxed before the murder of his wife. I haven't had a chance to speak much about Arlo to Jasper since I've been focusing on Lil and her interactions with him.
Lil speaks as I check the time on my phone.
"So, when are you going, Wren?"
I scoff with a smile, and my eyes meet hers.
"Are you trying to get rid of me, Lil?"
"Of course not! It's just that it's really dark, raining, and I didn't want you to drive home on your own so late."
