“Just like Aunt Sara.”
“Is it a boy or a girl?”
Arlo smiles and raises his chin.
“We’re not sure yet, but what would you like? A brother or a sister?”
He scrunches his nose up before he responds.
“I don’t know. A brother that I can play with and show him all my trains!”
I let out a giggle and Arlo’s brown eyes twinkle with amusement as he looks down at him.
“Well, as soon as we know what we’re having, we will tell you right away.”
Cree gives a small nod and then he turns his focus to me.
“Why are you crying, Wren? Are you not happy?”
I sniffle with a smile and inhale deeply.
“I’m more than happy; that’s why I am crying.”
Arlo now speaks up.
“I think Wren could do it with a hug.”
Arlo motions for me to come forward, and I stand, closing the small gap between us before dropping to my knees by Arlo’s feet and they both wrap their arms around me.
It’s later in the evening and after putting Cree to bed, I stroll up the long, dark hallway towards our bedroom. When I enter, I find Arlo lying on his back on the bed, his hands behind his head, shirtless and only wearing his black, shredded jeans.
I close the door behind me and kick off my sneakers before approaching him, and his gaze wanders down my body the closer I get.
When I’m close enough, I place my hands on his bare chest and cock my leg over him before straddling his lap.
He inhales deeply before taking his hands from behind his head and pressing them up my thighs, beneath my dress, until he has his palms on my bare, curvy hips.
As I begin to speak, we lock eyes.
“So, do you think he handled the news okay?”
His eyes scan mine until he eventually nods.
“As I knew he would. You have nothing to be worried about.”
As we remain silent for a while, looking into each other's eyes, I feel driven to ask him something now that we’ve reached a higher level of our relationship.
“Tell me something about yourself that no one else knows. Good or bad.”
He sighs and glances away before speaking flatly.
“Like what?”
His gaze meets mine now, and I shrug.
“I just want to learn more about the man I’m madly in love with. Sometimes I feel like I don’t really know you at all.”
I see his mind ticking as he thinks for a moment.
