“Should we leave?”
“Fuck no. I’m not sacrificing hot food because of them. Let’s just eat and ignore the fact that they’re even here,” I answer.
She nods in agreement, and we both dive in. Every so often she glances discreetly over her shoulder when she thinks I’m not looking. She does it for like the tenth time when I finally pop.
“Do you just want to go?” I ask.
“No. I want to have the waitress accidentally put drain cleaner in their drinks.”
I snort with laughter. “Believe me, I hate them as much as the next guy, but it’s probably not a good idea, Cele, too many loose ends.”
A few minutes later, Genna and Ryan leave their table. We watch as they both walk out the front door. Neither one of them notices us.
“Well, that was interesting. I wonder what they were doing here, especially after seeing her at the bridal shop,” she muses.
I place my fork and knife on my plate, fully satisfied with my meal.
“Coach Metson needs to choke on a dick and die for shooting Micah. As for her… I couldn’t even begin to understand the inner workings of that girl’s mind. She’s a fucking conundrum,” I say, leaning back in my chair.
“Bitch. The word you’re looking for is bitch,” she says with a smirk, and I’m in full agreement.
We make our way through the still growing crowd, pay for our meal, and head out. I move to open the door for Celeste when none other than Taylor walks in.
“Oh, for Christ’s sake.” Celeste huffs, flailing her arms in the air.
Taylor just grins from ear to ear. “I figured you guys would be ready to head back to campus by now, so I came to pick you up.”
My eyes bug out of my head. “How’d you—”
He tilts his head to the side with his stupid smile still plastered on his face. “I know you.”
I roll my eyes and push past him before he can see my smile. No way will I ever admit that the fact that he knows us so well warms my heart.
“The car is over there.” He points to a car on the left side of the building that is most certainly not his BMW.
“New car?” I ask.
He shakes his head and jogs ahead of me. “Nah. Psi Kappa Psi has a few that we get to use. You can ride shotgun.”
I squint my eyes at him.Um… okay.
As we get closer, I see the silhouette of someone in the driver’s seat at the same time Celeste does.
“Taylor…” she warns. “Who’s with you?”
“Don’t worry, Cele. Trust me.” The fucker smiles, kisses her forehead, and pulls her into the backseat.
I lean forward to grab the handle when I finally see who’s driving through the dark-tinted window.
“What the ever-loving fuck?” I hear Celeste say as she realizes who’s in the car.
A moment later, I hear a few smacking sounds from the backseat, which can only be her hitting Taylor. “What the hell is wrong with you, Bryant!”
There’s a full scuffle between the two of them until Taylor finally restrains both of her hands.
“Calm down, buttercup. We can fight later,” he says, which earns him a kick in the shins.
Taylor shouts, “Eves, get in the car before I lose my manhood!”
