Giselle
“Wow,” I whispered under my breath as I looked up—and up—and up. I’d always imagined that Carlo lived in a castle somewhere—but I never actually believed it.
Until now.
“Nice, right?” Eve leaned over and grabbed my arm. Her head twisted around my shoulder, and she gazed up as well. “Wait until you see the inside. It’s incredible.” She gave me a quick hug after the limo stopped moving. Luckily, the kids had fallen asleep a while ago.
Which was a very, very, very good thing.
The flight over here had been—interesting. To say the least.
Four kids under two made for some intense moments on a long international flight. The good thing was that there were more than enough arms to carry and snuggle them.
Carlo allowed Sophia to come with us. Which surprised me a bit. He didn’t seem to want her help very often.
And of course, I was fine with looking after my own kid. It just surprised me that a billionaire like Carlo would be so averse to accepting help.
I was glad Sophia tagged along. Once the jetlag hit us—we’d need all the help we could get with these kids.
The men exited the far door, and I waited for Carlo to open ours. Sure enough, a few moments later, there he was. Carlo’s smexy grin spread over his face. “Benvenuto a casa.” He reached down and grasped my hand to help me up and out. My legs were more than a little stiff from the plane ride and then the limo ride. It was nice to stand on land again.
“Not too shabby,” I teased him, and he laughed.
“Do you like it?” His head nodded toward his huge, monstrous castle.
I mean, really?
What was there not to like about a castle?
I shrugged and said, “It’ll do.”
He chuckled and pulled me in for a kiss. “I’ll take you on a tour before we grab the kids.” His lips touched mine quickly. Then he helped Eve out and asked Sophia to stay back in the limo with the sleeping children while he showed me around.
Stefan and Nick were talking about something with Eve. They headed to the back of the limo to unload the luggage and said they’d meet us inside.
I could feel Carlo’s excitement oozing out of his pores. He wanted my approval of his castle. And that was freaking cute.
He pulled me up to the huge front doors and opened them.
Yeah.
This was definitely a castle.
“Gosh, it’s beautiful.” I looked around at the ornate wood surrounding me. A tall staircase stood in the middle of the foyer. Each spindle of the handrail was carefully carved. Gorgeous blue marble floors lay under my feet.
And it went on for miles.
Carlo took me around the back to the living room and then through to the kitchen. Out the patio doors stood a pool and hot tub with the most amazing view.
Ever.
Vineyards ran as far as the eye could see all around the castle.
There was a smaller house off to the side. Carlo said it was for guests. “Or, if one night,” he leaned down and kissed me deeply, “we decide it might be nice to have an adult-only party here. The kids can stay over there with Sophia.”
Hmm.
