I know for sure he cannot be my alpha.
Mom is correct. The concept of scent matching does not exist. Not that we are a scent match, but his smell does things to me that don’t happen with other alphas.
Refusing to let go of my hand, he forcefully drags me through the corridor.
“Are you hurting her?” The man clad in black emerges from the very chamber where he had been observing us.
“I’m fine.” I redirect my attention to the man and maintain eye contact, smiling unnaturally long so I appear nonchalant.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Aiden growls in my ear.
“You can’t stop me from smiling at anyone,” I hiss back. I’m so over him. I want this arrangement over and done with.
“You’re mine, Omega. Don’t fucking forget it.”
“Seven more days, Alpha. At this rate, it might be over in three days, two nights.” I glare at him. We’re locked in a battle of wills before I break it and whisper, “You’re so full of yourself.”
“You’ll be full of me. Now get back in that room.”
“No!”
“You’re mine, and I want to show everyone here that you are.”
“I’m not yours forever. The clock is ticking, and then I’m through with you.”
“Stop lying to me,” Aiden says.
“Me?” I say incredulously. “You’re the one keeping the big secrets. I signed an NDA because you’re the one who wants nobody to know about us. You’re the one who takes me shopping by a private jet, just in case you’re seen with me. I could’ve gone shopping on my own. You don’t need to do this trip unless you have a sordid little secret.”
His hand tightens around my throat, his lips brush against my ear. “We both have secrets, don’t we?”
I narrow my eyes in a piercing stare towards him.
“Take your hands off her,” the man I smiled at minutes ago growls. Although obscured by a mask, his face reveals kindness and eyes that shimmer. He also emanates power as he moves closer to us.
“Fuck off,” Aiden grunts, tightening his grip.
“Let her go, Mr. Ramsay,” Aiden’s bodyguard, Harry says, his voice softer than I ever thought he could manage for someone so large. Or perhaps it’s because I’m gradually losing touch with reality.
He doesn’t let go.
His demeanor becomes steely as we continue to stare at each other. I shift my gaze first when my eyes close and black spots twirl across my eyelids.
How in the heck did I think he had such an amazing smell?
“Let her go,” Harry growls.
The instant his hand slackens, I cough, then hiss, “I hate you.”
“Say that again.”
“You heard me. I hate you. I’d never choose you to be my alpha.”
