“I don't plan on letting her go anytime soon,” I said with honesty.

Just then Olivia stepped into the room. “Finally, the doctors are gone. I was wondering if I would get a chance to speak with you today.”

She paused and took a look at both of us. “What were you two talking about when I stepped in?”

“Your aunt has just sold you to me,” I responded. “I guess you will have to work with me for the rest of your life.”

“That's too much work, so just marry me,” she said, playing along.

We were all silent, so she immediately blushed, feeling embarrassed.

“Why didn't you say anything?” She looked like she was about to cry.

“I mean you just technically proposed,” I replied. “I don't know if I'm to say yes or no.”

“I wasn't proposing to you,” she said and frowned. “If anything, I'll be the one to be proposed to.”

“How are you doing?” Olivia asked, turning her attention to Sarah.

“I don't think I will ever get married again. Your boss had his hands on me and undressed me,” Sarah responded. “After using me, he called his friends to come look at me. Now he won't take responsibility, saying he would come for you next.”

“That is not what happened,” I defended myself. “She confirmed that she had consent, Olivia.”

“You two are just crazy,” Olivia sighed as she held her aunt's hand, “but I'm glad he was able to fix you.”

“Fix me? He has made me almost brand new,” she replied. “Hardly feel anything that I used to feel. He really is a really good doctor.”

“He is, isn't he?” Olivia retorted, giving me a side glance.

Last night she gave me a similar glance. I'm still struggling to get it off my mind.

“I'll leave you two to it,” I said.

“Thank you so much,” Olivia said again.

“Just get ready to work full time for the next year,” I advised, “or better yet, get ready to marry me.”

Her cheeks flushed again. I understood why she felt embarrassed. It was happening to me too.

“Well, uh…later.” I closed the door behind me and leaned against it, cringing.

It felt good saving her life.

Olivia

“All right spill it,” Sarah demanded.

“Spill what? What are you even talking about?”

“Don't play dumb with me,” she mocked. “You were not by my side sleeping as usual. And the nurses said you weren't in the hospital. Someone said you left along with the boss doctor.”

“That isn’t what happened,” I tried to explain. “Kate reached out to me that her former fiancé was threatening her. I just went there to help.”

“Since you want to be so defensive, why didn't you come back?” She had trapped me in a corner.

“That's because I-I…” I looked for the right word but got nothing. “Just mind your own business.”

“My niece’s business is mine,” she outsmarted me. “So, did you do it?”
