“My college boyfriend thought it was sexy to lick my teeth when he kissed me.” She shuddered. “Spoiler alert—it is not.”
“And the ear nibbling?” he asked, chuckling.
“It always sounds sowet, and not in a good way.”
“Good to know,” he managed. “Any other limits you want to emphasize?”
“No humiliation, no permanent marks, and I’m still not playing with you alone or at your house.”
“James has offered his basement,” he told her, sucking some of the righteous wind out of her sails. “And agreed to play DM, per your request.”
“Oh. Good.”
He pulled out his wallet. “If I have any questions after I read through your list, I’ll text you.”
“You don’t have my number,” she pointed out, frowning as he dropped enough cash on the table to cover their pie, plus a generous tip.
“Of course I do,” he countered and slid out of the booth.
“Of course you do,” she muttered.
He shrugged into his coat. “Come on, I’ll walk you home.”
He thought she might protest, just for form, but she just grabbed her coat and purse and stood.
He helped her on with her coat, which had her eyeing him suspiciously again, and laid a hand on the small of her back as they made their way to the door.
She was tense under his hand, even as she waved cheerfully to the waitress. He kept his hand on her once they hit the sidewalk, wanting to see if she’d shake him off.
She didn’t, though she didn’t quite relax, and they made the two-block trek back as they had before, in silence.
When they reached her building, she turned to face him. “Thanks for the pie.”
“You’re welcome.” He tapped a hand on her purse. “Don’t forget to throw out the trash.”
“Yes, Boss,” she said, and let that full eye roll loose again.
“Brat,” he growled, and she was grinning when he moved. He grabbed her chin in firm fingers, and the startled squeak she let out when he jerked her head up was music to his ears.
Moving slow to give her time to stop him and savoring the panicked arousal in her suddenly wide eyes, he leaned forward. He kept his eyes locked on hers, delight flooding him as heat replaced the panic in her gaze. Holding her steady, he caught her plump lower lip between his teeth and bit down, absorbing her flinch. He let it go, then slicked his tongue over it before pulling back.
He straightened, dropping his hand from her chin, and calmly buttoned his overcoat. “See you Saturday,” he said, his voice once again mild as milk, and, grateful the overcoat hid the erection tenting his slacks, walked away.
Chapter Six
“Then what did he say?”
“He said he wanted to do it all over again.”
Rebecca’s eyes, a soft dreamy gray, were bug-wide. “That’s so hot I think my panties just melted.”
Sadie blew out a breath. “Oh, good. It’s not just me.”
“It very much is not.” Rebecca shifted on the couch, wincing when the Velcro on her orthopedic boot caught on the seat cushion. “Goddamn this thing.”
“Does it hurt?”
“No, it’s just annoying. I can’t believe I fell off a stepladder and spent the whole party at urgent care.”
