I’m just about to try and draw Coralie out of her slumber when my phone vibrates on the dresser. I reach over, which makes her stir awake and read the email sent from the team PR about the summer fundraiser they always throw.

It’s not mandatory as loads of the team will be vacationing this time of year, but this could be a really fun thing to do as a couple.

I know me being excited about formalwear is a new one, but I kinda have this idea about recreating the night we met and having it endverydifferently.

“I received my email reminder for the benefit on Wednesday.”

“That’s in two days, gosh that came around quickly didn’t it!”

“It did because our summer has been so amazing,” I kiss her nose.

“It really has.” she says smiling.

“Good, because I want to talk to you about this.”

“Okay,” she rubs her own forehead. “Go on then, I’m listening.”

“You’ll go with me right?”

She pretends to think about it, but I tickle her and she giggles.

“I would love that. I’ve got a dress I’ve been dying to wear that I bought as a backup when Casey wanted me to tag along last year.”

“Does it have a split up the side?” I blurt. I’m over eager I know, but I don’t care.

“Erm yeah, actually it does, why?”

“No reason,” I shrug as she searches my face.

The very first night I met her she had on a long black dress and every time she moved, I caught glimpses of her long slender thigh. Jesus she was drop-dead gorgeous then, now she’s the epitome of stunning.

I’ve seen her dressed up for a few things and I love her most when she’s comfy, but the fact that she’ll be on my arm in a thigh-split dress is enough to send my thoughts into a tailspin.

“Can we get someone to babysit Jack so we can have a big night out? Get all dressed up and have a late night and a lazy morning?” I gently bite down on her ear and she shivers.

“Yes God, I would love that too. I’ll ask Kate. Or I could text Jasmine, Beau’s mom and arrange a sleepover and Kate could have her friends over.”

“Yeah, do that then and we’ll have Beau over for a day and a night in return.”

“Wow, they’ll jump at that,” she smiles. “I wonder what the three of you will be getting up to all day when he’s here?” she teases.

“Hockey, hockey, and more hockey. Do you think Beau is used to me now?”

She shakes her head with a grin.

The night of the fundraiser is upon us which means only one thing—Training Camp. Except unlike four years ago, it’s not for another two days. Which means we’re safe to have a few drinks.

Coralie seems to have finally shed most of her worries when it comes to us. The beach house was probably a turning point and her confidence in us but mainly herself, has only gotten stronger.

I still find my mind goes to a dark place sometimes when I think of all the things I’d love to do to Nick. How I’d make him pay for all the ways he hurt her, but I snap out of it and work on showing her how easy she is to love instead.

As she walks out of the closet we’ve been sharing, I try my very hardest to keep my hands to myself. Let me tell you it is physically impossible. Coralie’s a knockout and the boner I’ve had for her since I was twenty-four is immeasurably harder than normal. Jesus, it’s painful.

“What’s with the face?” Coralie asks adjusting my bow tie.

“Coralie, I am going to fuck your goddamn brains out, in like two seconds, if we do not get out of this house.”
