Just my luck, three hockey players. I’m even luckier that one of the three is the one and only, Luca “The King” Kingivson.
I’m fucking cursed.
This is a nightmare and feels like a setup. I get Luca needs the extra help, I can even understand Finn, but Alex Briggs? That kid is smarter than me.
I don’t trust this at all.
Penny offered to accompany me to my tutoring session. She just wants to witness my turmoil, she doesn’t want to help. They all think it’s so funny that Luca has some sort of crush on me, and I keep giving in to him. Which is not true.
The first time I was tricked. Second time, I gave in. I only gave in once. One time, and it will be the last time. I’ll set the boundaries as soon as I can figure out a way to get him alone and not naked.
I walk into the closed off room in the back of the library to see all three of them waiting. Finn is snacking on candy while his head is deep in the textbook, and his leg shaking nervously. Alex is at the other end, slumped back in his chair with his hood on and arms over his chest like he doesn’t care at all. And Luca, right in the middle of them, has the biggest grin on the edge of his seat, waiting for me.
“Hey, guys. Let me get my materials out and we can get started.”
I’m greeted with a snore from Alex.
Luca nudges him to wake him up.
“Sorry, what?” Alex says groggily.
I pass out papers similar to the test they all failed and tell them what page in the textbook to start at.
“First question, who wants to read it?”
Finn volunteers and reads the question.
Alex is sleeping again, so I ask Luca to answer it. It’s multiple choice, it shouldn't be too hard.
“Why won’t you look at me?” And that’s Luca’s response.
Of course, he doesn’t answer the question. Why would either of them be taking this seriously?
“That’s not one of the choices,” I say, tapping his paper.
“It’s my question.” He leans forward on his elbows. “Since you walked in here, you haven’t looked at me once. Why is that?”
I ignore him. “Alex, do you want to give the answer? “
“C for cheating Cunt.” I can’t say Alex’s response was much worse.
“Don’t mind him. Girl troubles.” Luca explains him away. “I’ll answer it, after you answer my question.”
“I’m looking at you right now!” I shout, picking my head up. I’m getting irritated. The three of them are so disrespectful and are just wasting my time.
“No, you're not. You’re looking out the window behind me. What’s going on outside, Kandace?”
Luca is about to get his head snapped off and thrown out of that window. Then there’ll be something to look at.
“You guys are wasting my time here. Do you need help or not?”
Finn raises his hand, afraid to talk, and I glare at him to speak.
“Yes. We really failed, and we’re going to lose our captain's letters if we can’t start passing all our classes.”
“Fine, then Luca, please answer question one. Alex, wake up. And Finn, if you have an answer, just answer it. There’s no need to raise your hand.”
Finn answers the question. We move along and go over each answer. The entire time, Alex is struggling to stay awake, making comments about his cheating girlfriend, and Luca is glaring at me with his arms folded over his chest.
