“So if you are done flirting, maybe you want to see the damsel in distress you just saved?” Anthony says.

I completely ignore his teasing and just nod. “I would love to see the lynx.”

Elden nods. “But first, breakfast.”

He doesn’t need to say it twice. I feel like I’m starving, and I eagerly eat everything they offer me, starting with bacon and eggs and then having several slices of bread with butter and jam. And coffee, lots of coffee.

“That’s impressive,” Henry says. “Even from my point of view.”

“Well, you haven’t spent hours in another person’s mind and ran for your life,” Elodie points out with a chuckle.

“True.” Henry kisses her softly.

I’m happy for him for having found his mate in Elodie. I knew he had a secret crush on her, and it’s just beautiful it worked out for both of them.

“Now, let’s go.” Elise ushers us forward to leave. “Come on, chocolate prince,” she says, grabbing Marcel’s hand to tug him along. He laughs happily and lets her do as she pleases.

We all follow the pair to the infirmary and to Auset’s room, where Cassiopeia is waiting for us. It looks like she has cried, but she smiles when she sees me. “Thank you,” she whispers. “You saved Lapis.”

“Is that her name?” I ask curiously, my eyes wandering to the lynx who has curled up on Auset’s bed and seems to protect her human.

Cassiopeia nods with a smile.

Lapis raises her head and jumps off the bed. She walks towards me and brushes over my legs. I kneel down in front of her, touching her soft fur. “Thanks for trusting me.”

She tilts her head and purrs before jumping back onto the bed and curling up on Auset’s legs once more. Even Auset looks a bit more relaxed today. “Am I imagining things, or does she look better?”

“You aren’t imagining it,” Elden says. “She does look better. In fact, her vitals are better than ever. Whatever you did, it was the right thing to do.”

“Uncle Elden?” Henry asks.

Elden looks at him curiously. “Hm?”

“Why is Aunt Flora not with us? It’s unusual for her to stay out of something like this,” he inquires.

He is right. I haven’t known Luna Flora for long, but she is a peculiar woman. She is a tiny elf-like woman, sweet and bubbly but also very powerful. I can’t believe she would miss this…

“Flora,” Elden starts. “She can’t be here for… reasons. Let’s respect that.”

“If she has to stay out of it,” Henry mutters thoughtfully. “Then it is to keep a balance. So it’s true, and the deities are at work.”

Elden stares at him. “Sometimes you are too smart for your own good,” he says earnestly.

Henry turns his gaze away, looking a bit flustered. “I apologize. I overstepped my boundaries.”

“You didn’t,” Elden reassures him before furrowing his brows. “But let’s pretend Henry didn’t say anything.”

I can almost feel the curiosity sizzling in the air. Even Elodie, who is more level-headed, seems curious as to what Henry was talking about and why Elden got so defensive. But no one wants to go against the order of such a powerful alpha and our future king.

Dalila

*ANTHONY*

WedecidedtohelpCassiopeia set up her pride in Ezra’s pack and travel there a few days later. The sooner we get things done, the better. Cassiopeia sent her pride ahead while still settling and organizing a few things here in Silverlake Pack. Once she is ready to leave, we decide to tag along.

On our way to Ezra’s pack, Dalila asks question after question. We have split for the ride, and Henry, Elodie, Dalila, and I are taking a separate car, giving us the opportunity to answer all her questions. Mom and Dad have already prepared her a bit, and Mom joyfully told me that she is such a fast and eager learner. It seems like she sucks up all the information as if she were a dry sponge.
