“It sounds pretty real,” he admits. “From what you told me, you hacked into that guy’s account and found out where he’d go.” He smirks. “You seem to have a hand in getting yourself into trouble when you poke your nose into other people’s business.”
I smack his shoulder. “Be glad I did, or you would have never told me.”
“Actually, I wanted to tell you everything tonight,” he admits.
I perk up a bit at his words, relieved he didn’t plan on leading me on. However, the vampire party interests me more for now. “Why did he stalk me?”
“The vampire guy? I think he was interested in you.” Tony smiles. “Vampires have a beloved like wolves have a mate. But they can also choose someone, just like we can take a chosen mate.”
“Oh god.” I grimace. “That creepy boy wanted to get into my pants?”
“Yes.” He chuckles. “But fortunately, he wasn’t successful, and I got you in my arms now.”
Aw, he is the cutest and so smooth. He keeps telling me more about how it was growing up here in a pack, and he also tells me about the mission he participated in a few months ago, where they freed a suppressed pack. Their team leader is one of his friends, Finn, who became alpha of said pack and—
“Finn?” I blink. “Weird, around the same time I worked for a little underground IT company. Suddenly, a young man dropped by there, asking us to find his friend, Finn Alcott, and to track his phone.”
Tony stares at me. “Was that guy’s name Dave?”
“Yes.” My eyes widen. “He came there with a huge hulk of a man who obviously had the hots for him.”
“Interesting,” Tony mutters.
I furrow my brows. “Okay, explain.”
“Dave is a human,” he tells me. “And one of Finn’s best friends. When our families couldn’t contact us, he used his contacts to track our phones. It seems like he found his mate at that time.”
I beam. “He is also human!? So if it happens that I only have none or only a little bit of supernatural blood in me, I won’t be the only human?”
“Exactly.” Tony smiles brightly. “He is living in an allied pack close to ours. And just for the record”—he kisses my temples—“I don’t think being a human makes you in any way weak or less fascinating. You are as special as any werewolf or lycan woman could be. And to me, you are a treasure, the gift the Goddess gave me.”
Aw, smooth-talking again, but I’m starting to like it. Seems like, deep down, there is a romantic hidden in me.

WhenTonydisappearedyesterday,I was worried at first, but through our bond, I could feel he was alright. It took all my willpower not to go there and check on him. Fortunately, Elodie kept me distracted and kept reassuring me that I would feel if something was off.
The next morning, Elodie and I are curiously awaiting Tony for breakfast. Mom and Dad are in the dining hall, too, so are Marcel, Elise, and Serenade—all of them pretending they aren’t curious or worried.
To my relief, Tony appears hand in hand with his cute mate. She looks tiny next to him, which is hilarious.
Our fellow pack members return to their charade of pretending to be hotel guests when they see their future alpha and luna. Tony, however, surprises us by grinning and hollering into the room, “You can drop it. She knows.”
A sigh of relief goes through the room before a group of warriors and close friends of Tony jump up and approach him and his mate, congratulating them. I have to give credit to Dalila. She is a human, but she takes all this very gracefully.
“So,” Dalila says after a while. “I assume everyone here is a wolf?”
“Yes,” Tony says with a smirk. “Everyone.”
“And how did you have them play along with your weird hotel shtick?” she wants to know.
“I mind linked them,” he explains.
“Wait a moment…” Her eyes widen. “Does that mean you can connect your minds and send them little messages?”
