“Actually, it means we can talk through said mind link. We do need to be part of a pack to be able to do that and have our wolf spirits.”

She nods knowingly. So apparently, he already filled her in on a lot if she knows how a pack life works and that we share our souls with our wolves. Mom and Dad look incredibly pleased as the pair approaches them. “Finally,” Dad exclaims with a bright smile. “We can meet properly.”

Tony beams proudly and puts his arm around Dalila. “Yes, meet my mate, Dalila. We still have a lot of questions to tackle, also concerning her past, but we can do that after breakfast.”

Dalila might be human, but she naturally leans into Tony’s touch and doesn’t seem to be bothered by his proximity at all, nor by the fact that she is surrounded by werewolves.

“So, you are my son’s mate?” Dad looks at Dalila expectantly.

“Well, yes.” She smiles nervously. “I hope you don’t mind… Mr… I… mean Alpha…”

“You ask me if I mind?” Dad hollers. “I’m over the moon! I thought it would never happen. And drop the formalities. Just call me Jace.”

“Dad,” I groan.

“I prayed to the Goddess daily,” he continues. “The weather”—he points outside to perfectly sunny weather—“of the last few days. I’m convinced she sent you in person. I just know it. Janice.” He turns to Mom. “Finally, we don’t need to worry about our sons anymore. They fortunately found their pitiful mates.”

Elise giggles helplessly while Elodie looks a bit flustered. Dalila smiles brightly. “So that’s where you got it from,” she comments towards Tony.

Mom and I exchange a gaze and burst into laughter. “Finally, someone sees the similarity.” I chuckle.

Dad doesn’t seem to mind the teasing at all. Instead, he gently takes Dalila’s hand to squeeze it while at the same time putting his other hand on Elodie’s shoulder.

Mom smiles brightly as she gets up to hug Dalila. “Welcome to the family, my dear. I’m Janice, Anthony’s mom. If you have any more questions, you can also always ask me.”

Dalila smiles shyly at her, my mom’s calm and gentle aura getting to her like everyone else. “Thank you,” she says. “I-I don’t have a family anymore, so this warm welcome feels incredible.”

“You just gained sixteen hundred new family members.” Dad smiles before he lets go of her hand and pulls Tony into a hug. I can see his eyes glossing over while linking him, and Tony smiles.

“Sixteen hundred?” Elodie asks in interest. “That’s quite the number.”

“On this continent, we are one of the biggest packs,” I tell her.

“It’s Silverlake with Uncle Elden ruling,” Tony adds. “With approximately two thousand to twenty-three hundred members. Then Red Claw with Uncle Elden’s son Liam as their alpha, with something between eighteen hundred and two thousand, and then us.”

“Enough of the boring talk..” Elise smiles and pulls Dalila down on the chair next to hers. Tony instantly takes the place on Dalila’s other side. “I’m so sorry we couldn’t be honest with you, Dalila. I mean, when we met.”

“No hard feelings.” Dalila chuckles. “I can understand why you wouldn’t introduce yourself with: Oh, hi, my name is Elise. I’m a werewolf.”

“Technically, I’m a lycan.” Elise giggles. “But yes.”

“How could you tell the girls apart?” Marcel asks curiously, his arm wrapped tightly around Elise’s middle.

“I can’t.” Dalila smirks. “But Tony told me that Elodie is Henry’s mate, so I assumed the woman glued to your side is the other twin.”

Marcel’s lips tug into an amused smile. “You have good instincts. I can see you working well with Tony and keeping him in line.”

Tony wiggles his brows. “I certainly wouldn’t mind being controlled by my hot mate.”

“Children.” Dad sighs. “Can we not just jump into the semi-suggestive comments right away. At least save it for lunch.”

“So, what’s the plan for today?” Marcel asks.

“I have an appointment with Liam,” Henry says. “And later, Tony and I want to discuss the issue of re-locating Cassiopeia’s pride.”

Dalila listens to us while we talk, her expression confused. “I thought I knew a lot already, but I have so many question marks in my head now.”

“I have an offer.” Mom smiles at her. “How about when the boys meet with Princess Cassiopeia, you and I sit together, and I tell you everything that has been going on here, a bit about pack politics and the names they just dropped. We can do this on a regular basis if you want to.”
