Meanwhile, Uncle Elden has his eyes on me now, narrowing them to a hard stare. “I hope you know you went too far into Auset’s mind.”

“I wasn’t aware,” I answer honestly. “But even if I were aware, I wouldn’t have stopped to retreat.”

Uncle Elden raises his brows. “So, was it worth the trip?”

“I think it was more than worth it.” I pause. “And I need to return sooner than later.”

“You want to visit her mind again?” Harmony asks, shocked.

I nod. “I think I have to.”

Uncle Elden frowns a bit, but he doesn’t seem angry at me anymore, fortunately believing I had no idea how much strength I had used. Once everything has calmed down, we start both the breakfast and the meeting.

Elodie and Elise take the task of filling Alpha Jace, Elden, and Flora in on what led to the recent happenings. When she talks about the stars, a shadow glides over Flora’s face. She gets up, looking more serious than I’ve ever seen her. She paces around while she listens to what everyone says.

Once the girls are finished, Anthony and Henry take over, explaining their actions in the hospital and also their visit to the coven, and how they involved Marcel and me.

Lastly, it’s my turn, and I make sure to tell them every bit of information I gathered in Auset’s mind. I try to get it all out so that I won’t forget an important snippet, telling them about the voice I heard in the desert, which has Uncle Elden interrupting me.

“You heard a voice that reminded you of it being all in your mind?” he asks, surprised. “And it wasn’t your lycan?”

“Another presence had to be there,” Aunt Flora mutters.

I nod and explain to them how I met this person in the pond who I first mistook for Auset but who clearly wasn’t her. “It’s more like a deity that was bound in her mind,” I point out. “And it was incredibly hard to tell their gender.”

“And you were able to interact with it?” Aunt Flora asks.

I nod. “And with Auset’s lynx.”

“What?” Uncle Elden exclaims.

I hurry to explain my encounter with the lynx spirit before I finally explain to them how I saw Auset getting attacked. Cassiopeia’s eyes get wide as I explain it. “There were no traces of an attack,” she whispers. “Werecats are particularly strong trackers, and we didn’t find anything.”

Look into your pocket,Khaldun tells me. He sounds tired, but other than that, he doesn’t seem to be hurt.

I blink in confusion as I reach into the pocket of my pants. I’m wearing the same as yesterday and—“WHAT!?” I exclaim in horror.

Everyone’s attention snaps back to me as I pull forward one of the little arrows they shot at Auset in my visit to her memory. I throw it on the table, scared of even holding it. “That’s what they shot her with,” I blurt out. “But how can it be in my pocket!?”

“That’s truly unbelievable,” Uncle Elden mutters as he hands Alpha Jace the arrow. They both exchange a worried gaze.

“It means we can analyze it, though,” Elise points out. “I will have our scientists in the Council take a look at it.”

“Arman said he needs to set Auset’s lynx free first.” Elodie frowns. “But having a potential antidote or understanding what she was shot with would definitely be valuable knowledge.”

“Auset is in danger,” Harmony points out. “Arman said the men are waiting for her to wake up. We need to get her somewhere safe.”

“I will have her brought to the pack grounds,” Alpha Elden offers and looks at Cassiopeia. “That is if you agree.”

“Of course,” she says earnestly. “This situation is clearly too big to solve on my own. I might not like it, but I will need to accept your help. I’m also worried about my pride, though.”

“We could momentarily relocate your people,” Alpha Jace offers. “Better not here or too close to where Auset will be, just to be safe, but we have a few allied packs we could ask for help.”

Cassiopeia tilts her head. “I will think about it.”

“What else?” Flora’s melodic voice interrupts them. They look at her, confused, but her gaze is on me. “You saw something else.”

“Right.” I frown. “But I’m not sure if it was real or my imagination.”
