“I wouldn’t want to miss it,” he says with a smile.
“You don’t mind that we don’t throw a big party?”
“Not at all.” His smile grows. “You and Tony do things your way, and that’s very commendable. Never change who you are and remain true to yourself.” He pauses. “You make my son very happy, and he grew so much with you at his side.”
“He makes me happy, too,” I say. “And helped me grow.”
“That’s what mates should do for each other.” He offers me his arm. “And now give me the honor to lead you to my son.”
I smile, happily taking his arm and letting him lead me out of the guest room. While Janice and I were away, the others decorated our path with beautiful paper flowers and lanterns. It’s evening now, but the air is still so warm. There is just a light wind breezing through, and I’m glad I have my cape and hood to protect me a bit from the sand. The desert is close by, and the grounds are a bit dry. Jace leads me towards a small pavilion made entirely out of sand-colored stones where Tony and the others are already waiting for me. He beams when he sees me, tears in his eyes.
When Jace puts my hand in his, I feel so much warmth and joy flooding me. We both turn towards Karim, who leads us through a short but beautiful ceremony. I’m so happy I can do this with the people that matter the most to me. When I allow my gaze to roam the surroundings a bit, I can barely contain my surprise, though.
In the distance, I can see the figure of a regal woman with wings on her back and a lion standing next to her.

“Careful.”Henryglaresateveryone around us while he leads Elodie towards our table.
“Henry.” Elodie sounds both amused and annoyed. “I’m pregnant, not sick.”
“But the baby,” he mutters nervously.
“The baby is fine! Danae reassured me everything is perfect.” She pats the space next to her. “Now sit down and make sure I’m getting something to eat because I’m starving… and cranky because I can’t drink.”
“We’ll drink for you instead,” Marcel reassures her, only to get smacked by Elise.
“They have plenty of non-alcoholic drinks here, too,” Dalila reassures her.
It’s been a while since we all went out together, the whole group. Cassiopeia and Callum needed a babysitter, but it seems that half of their pride, plus Callum’s family, volunteered to watch over their little girl so that they could have a night out.
Steve and Amaryllis are supposed to come but will drop by later. They will be visiting Ryllis’ old pack later this week, and it will be her first visit back since she got away. It’s been a traumatic experience for her being in that pack, and she couldn’t face it until now. But our friend Finn is doing a fabulous job as their new alpha, and his mate is Ryllis’ best friend, so she finally decided to see for herself how things have changed.
Serenade will come a bit later, too. She recently met her mate when visiting her family for three days. She returned with a hot warrior with ebony skin… and with a mark. She definitely didn’t waste any time.
“Congrats, Elodie and Henry.” Arman smiles at them while Harmony wraps her hands around his arm and leans against him.
“Do you already know the gender?” Harmony asks.
Elodie shakes her head. “We will know next week.”
“It’s going to be triplets,” I joke, making Henry pale and Elodie groan.
“Don’t jinx it, Tony, I swear!” She glares at me.
“I’m already hoping it’s not going to be twins,” Henry mutters. “Let alone triplets!”
I chuckle a bit but wisely remain silent.
While the others continue to catch up, I turn my head, searching for the barkeeper and owner, waving at him. It’s the same man whose bar I visited when I had my fight with Henry. Ye-Joon has branched out his bar to a bigger place, but he is still the same composed and dignified man. I‘ve known him for so long now, but I think I’ve never seen anything else on his face but a professional smile.
We all know so little of him despite seeing him regularly.
