“You were smaller,” Dad says with a smile. “You and Henry were the tiniest bundles ever.”

“That’s true,” Mom says. “When Jace took over as alpha and made sure my mom and I could return, you were still only two months old. We marked each other the same night he took over the pack, and my wolf claimed the both of you as hers. I was so worried because you were so small, and I constantly nagged the doctor and nurses. I stocked up on all the books about babies and twins I could find.” She smiles, and to my surprise, it seems to be a good memory to her. “They told me you were so tiny because you are twins. And I was so relieved.”

“When I got Janice back and held her and you in my arms for the first time, it was the best day of my life,” Dad says.

“For me, too,” Mom agrees. “And now we even have a little addition to the family.”

“You know she will be our princess, right?” I ask Mom.

“You bet,” Tony agrees.

“I’m glad she will have so many people around her to protect and love her,” Mom says.

Dad and Mom share more stories with us from when we were little, and Elodie and Dalila seem to be even more eager to hear about them than the both of us.

When I sit down at the edge of Mom’s bed, surrounded by my family, I realize how rich my life is and how privileged I am.

I have my brother, my parents, and now a little baby sister. My mate is here, and she accepts me for who I am. For the first time in my life, I truly feel at home, not only here but also in myself.

“Thankyousomuch,Mr. Hearst.” A woman of middle age with shoulder-length hair shakes Tony’s hand. There is a teenage boy next to her who looks a bit flustered, like he doesn’t know what to say.

“There is nothing to thank me for, Mrs. Williams,” Tony says earnestly. “This was all Corinne’s idea. We just made sure that her passion project can continue with what she dreamed of.”

“She always dreamed big,” Mrs. Williams says, a sad smile curling her lips.

“And you,” Tony addresses the young boy. “Are you also into books?”

“More into comics,” he admits. “I know I should probably read more.”

“You know what they say,” Tony says. “It’s good to read. It doesn’t matter if it’s comics or something else.”

“My sister always said the same.” Corinne’s brother smiles. “She always made sure to recommend to me new stuff they got in the library.”

I try to remain a bit in the background, not wanting to appear disrespectful, but eventually, Mrs. Williams notices me. “You must be Mr. Hearst’s girlfriend. It’s lovely to finally meet you.”

“Likewise,” I say, shaking her hand and exchanging some polite words with her. Tony and I eventually retreated a bit as we only came to this event because Tony is one of the main sponsors of theDreams by CorinneFoundation.

Later in the evening, I meet Elodie to look at some wedding venues. Henry graduated earlier, as anticipated, and once he had his degree, he proposed to Elo. It was actually very romantic. He threw her a little party with all their mutual friends and family, even Prince Eric came, and then he proposed. He was so nervous when he did it. It was adorable, and Elodie burst into tears of joy.

Deep inside, they are both pretty romantic, and Henry really went out of his way to tick all her boxes.

It means my girl is getting married soon!

Tony left to meet with Arman, Elise, Serenade, and our human acquaintance Dave for a Dungeons & Dragons pen and paper campaign. I wish I could join them, but I suck at pen and paper and normally only join Tony’s peer group when they play one-shots. To this day, I have no idea how Tony convinced Arman to join. I’m taking a wild guess he thought it would be an actual battle training, not a pen and paper campaign. But apparently, he liked it enough to stick around.

Elise was also new to this type of game, but she is a natural, and her character is leveling up like crazy.

“Hey, girl.” I hug Elodie when I see her. “Did you wait long?”

“Not at all!” She hands me a cup of coffee. “I was early and fetched us some coffees. It’s so great you are doing this with me. I know it’s boring. Elise wanted to cancel her D&D session, but I told her not to.” Elodie grins. “She hates going to look at venues and organizing things, anyway. I just told her she won’t be able to get out of wedding dress shopping with me.”
