I haven’t heard the voice before, and out of instinct, I grab Elise to push her behind me. Henry does the same with Elodie, tugging her close while we all turn to face whatever monstrosity is going to approach us now.

The moment Anthony and his group are teleported to Egypt, Auset turns to me with a smile. “It’s time,” she says. “This is not just because of our current circumstances, Dalila, but I’m truly tired, and I’m too old. Besides, the contract Maahes and I had was just temporary.”
Next to her, I can see another figure manifesting itself. “Maahes…” I whisper.
I didn’t know what to expect. He is tall with broad shoulders and clad in his battle gear, a piece of fur being draped over his shoulders. Behind him, I can see a lion pacing around. Is this even real?
“Finally, we meet,” he says, his voice low and comforting.
“It’s about time to make a decision,” Auset says softly. “I cannot keep the connection to Maahes anymore, as my body is growing too old.”
“I thank you for your services, Auset,” Maahes tells her. “You were a tremendous partner to work with.”
“You too.” She smiles. “But now it’s time for you to fulfill your true destiny, for the both of you.”

*DALILA*
Ican’tevenremotelygrasp what’s going on. The moment I turned off the security system and the cameras and my mate and his friends entered the base of the Apophis cult… everything turned into the weirdest show I’ve ever seen.
I moved my stuff from Auset’s room, as she needed the rest. After she and Maahes severed their connection, it exhausted her, and he made sure she would lie down to get some rest. Then he disappeared, leaving me with my conflicted feelings. I’m still wondering if I did the right thing.
Wanting to distract myself, I decided to watch what Tony and the others were doing. I didn’t expect to be greeted by that sight, though! I keep watching them through the cameras, noticing how Tony is kneeling on the ground, hitting it, before he gets up again. There are two guards, but they don’t attack him; instead, they talk, and Tony goes back to dropping to the ground and hitting the floor again. I have lost sight of Henry as the room he is in doesn’t have a camera, but Elise and Elodie…
Why the fuck are they rolling around on the ground?
I move to the camera in the basement where Marcel and Cassiopeia are supposed to be, as there is no camera in Arman’s and Harmony’s building, and I’m speechless to see Marcel jumping and rolling around like he is on a guerilla mission against an invisible enemy while Cassiopeia keeps shooting at something.
That’s when I decide I need to alert someone. The guard on this floor of the pack house was friendly enough to link Alpha Elden, who arrives in less than a minute. “What’s happening?” he asks, worried.
I point at my screen, not able to form a coherent sentence as to what’s going on. He furrows his brows as he sees the weird scenes. “I don’t know what’s going on,” I admit. “I can’t even see what’s happening…”
“That’s because it’s invisible to the eye,” he mutters, his forehead furrowing in worry.
Then, however, I can suddenly see Tony getting up. Something in his stance changes; the desperation and sadness are gone, and instead, he looks angry. Angry enough for me to feel it through our bond. He approaches the two guards, doing something… with the first, who then stabs the second. “What…”
“He snapped out of it,” Alpha Elden sounds relieved. “Thank Goddess.”
“What did he do to the guard?” I ask curiously.
“I’m sure he told you about his gift?”
I nod.
Elden smirks. “Let’s say he just unleashed it fully.”
Before I can answer him, I can feel a presence in my mind stir slightly.… not safe…
Damn, this is still such a foreign feeling. The moment Tony and the others left, Auset decided it was time for me to make a decision, and I’m still not sure if I did the right thing.
Alpha Elden looks at me. “I think they might need backup.”
“They do,” the door opens, and Luna Flora comes in. She is a peculiar woman, and every time I see her, I’m amazed. She looks nothing like a woman in her forties or fifties. However, when I look closer, I can see some lines around her eyes that give away her age. “They need backup,” she says with urgency.
