Elden nods. “These matters are better discussed in the Council.”

I can feel new motivation filling me. When we started the day, we were all feeling discouraged, but now… maybe we’ll have a new lead.

“We are going to the Council immediately,” Elise says, suddenly very earnest.

I nod at her, turning to my mate to say goodbye until we’ll see each other for dinner. “You can use the time and do what Tony asked you to do,” I suggest.

Elden raises his brows in interest when he hears my words. “So, you are ready, Anthony?”

“No,” Tony mutters. “But I never will be, so we might as well do it now.”

Elden nods contently. “Elodie is right. While they are at the Council, we can work on your connection with Lysander a bit.”

Tony puts his arm around Dalila to pull her closer as if he needs to hold on to her for dear life. I shift my attention back to Henry, taking his face between my hands.Make sure to watch out for your brother. I think he will really need you.

I will,he promises while kissing me softly. Next to us, Marcel and Elise are sharing a kiss, too.

“Goddess,” Eric groans. “This is gross. It’s like watching my sisters kiss. We need to leave now.”

*ELDEN*

I’m surprised by how fast Anthony has accepted my help and how it only took him a few days to get down to his problem. I promised him not to tell Jace the details, but I will make sure that Jace knows how bravely his son decided to face his issues.

It takes a lot of strength to admit to a weakness and work on it.

On our way to my office, Flora suddenly joins us as if she has been waiting for us. I’m relieved to see her. Even after all these years, I hate to be apart from her. “I heard what you are about to do.” She smiles brightly. She beams at the two boys. “I’m sure it will work out well!”

“I hope so, Aunt Flora.” Anthony smiles at her, and I can see his whole body relaxing a bit in her presence.

“Of course it will.” She giggles. “You have a cute mate to watch out for now.” She opens her arms and twirls around. “Both of you have two gorgeous mates.”

Now Henry smiles, too, the look in his eyes warming up.

I pull Flora’s small body closer to me, feeling how a feeling of calm washes over me the moment she grabs my arm. Anthony and Henry follow us, while Anthony’s mate Dalila stays with Arman and Marcel to take a bit of a break.

You knew she was part deity, didn’t you?I ask my peculiar mate. I’ve noticed she didn’t even ask one question since we returned.

Flora flashes me an innocent smile.Maybe I did, maybe I didn’t.

She is taking it surprisingly well,I mutter.

Of course she is. It’s her instinct. It’s in her blood.Flora smiles brightly, and I can see small dots of lights dancing around her. I know they are always there, invisible to the others. I can only see them occasionally when they want to because the beings of lights have accepted me as her mate. But up to today, I don’t know what or who they truly are.

Nephthys told Dalila we’d need to wake up Auset.I shake my head.I think she meant to say we should wake the deity locked up in her. Just who is it they keep prisoner in Auset’s mind?I toss a gaze towards my mate, who has tilted her head to the side a bit.

Hm,she hums.

Alright, I got it.I smirk, brushing my fingers over her cheek, aware that she stayed away from our last meetings out of the reason not to intervene.I won’t get any answers from you.

Let me try.Regis, my lycan, appears in my mind, tilting his majestic dark-brown head to the side. He looks regal, and most of the time, he also acts regal. Flora and our pups are his only weak point. The one time I gave in to his suggestion, thinking he would indeed make her spill a few secrets, it backfired. One look from Flora’s huge innocent eyes and his heart melted into a puddle of lycan drool. I know him well enough to know he just wants to come out to play with his mate.

You can have your private time with her later.I furrow my brows. Now, we need to focus.

Once we reach my office, Flora lets go of my arm. “I will leave you now.” She smiles brightly. “This is more Elden’s thing anyway. Meanwhile”—she pumps a fist into the air in joy—“I will make sure to spend some time with Dalila.” She twirls around to look at Anthony. “She likes cake, doesn’t she?”

“Chocolate cake is her favorite.” Anthony nods.

“Brilliant,” Flora squeals and uses the moment to rush away again. Her light footsteps can barely be heard.
