“Our mates are clearly delusional,” Dalila giggles.
“Maybe.” Elodie smiles. “But they are not wrong. You know, I think the both of us were mated to Henry and Anthony because together, we might just be a kickass team. Does it help you to know that while you might not be full luna material, you are half a luna?” After she has said this, eyes widen. “I didn’t mean it as an insult. I—”
“I didn’t take it as an insult.” Dalila beams. “Yes, it puts my mind at ease!”
“Then promise me one thing. If you ever see me stepping a bit out of line with a comment, tell me.” She pauses. “I don’t always read the room correctly.”
“And I tend to get a bit overexcited,” Dalila says. “You can pull me back a bit when I go overboard.”
“You will be an awesome luna-team,” I encourage them.
“And there are still years of training ahead of us,” Henry points out. “Tony and I aren’t ready to be alphas yet.”
“And just like you, we work best as a team,” I add.
“This will be so weird.” Elodie laughs. “A pack with two alphas and two lunas. It doesn’t happen often.”
“We will rock it.” Dalila grins.
As if on cue,We Will Rock YoubyQueenplays on the radio, and we all laugh. Henry doesn’t like listening to the radio normally, as he is sensitive to noise while driving, but recently, he has tried to desensitize himself to some noises that disturb him, and it seems he is doing well with the radio.
We listen to a few more songs, and Dalila sings along to some, her voice full and strong, until we reach the Wild Meadow Pack borders. The guards are already expecting us, waving our car and Marcel’s car that has been following us through.
Alpha Ezra and his luna greet us in front of the pack house. He introduces us all to his mate, a young, tall woman named Giselle. She has something firm and determined about her and quite some charisma. I’ve heard she is doing a fantastic job as luna, and after seeing her now, I have no doubts that she can be a strong ally.
“Ezra told me all about you,” she says, shaking our hands with a firm grip. “I’m happy to finally meet you, all of you.” She smiles at Dalila. “It’s rare for us to host a human on our pack grounds. It’s a pleasure to have you here.”
“The pleasure is on my side,” Dalila answers smoothly. “I apologize in advance, as I’m still learning and probably will break protocol here and there.”
“Don’t worry.” Ezra chuckles. “You haven’t seen some of the young lunas of other packs yet. The lycan packs, like your mate’s, are proud of preparing their heirs well for the position, but some werewolf packs are…” he pauses. “Let’s say there is room for a lot of improvement.”
“If I have to deal with one more spoiled luna during one of these meetings, I might just quit,” Giselle says with a frown before she shakes her head and turns to Cassiopeia. “Princess Cassiopeia, it honors me that you deem us strong enough to host your people,” she says, well aware of the werecats being quite prideful.
Her words make Cassiopeia visibly relax, and she smiles. “I will be forever indebted to your generosity, Luna Giselle. I will make sure we won’t rely on your hospitality for too long.”
“Werewolves have dominated this region for so long,” Ezra says seriously. “I think it’s about time other shifters return and claim some spots, too. I’m thrilled that you and your pride decided to come here, and I hope once everything is settled, you will choose a place for your pride that’s going to be close to us.”
Cassiopeia nods firmly. “I believe we are strongest when we are together instead of working against each other.” Her determination amazes me. At first glance, I just saw her breathtaking beauty and elegance, typical for werecats, but she is a royal and a leader through and through.
Before we can discuss things further, Ezra turns his head a bit, waving at a figure approaching us from the distance. “My brother,” he explains. “Callum. He has been checking on the borders and on our security systems.”
“Oh, I’m glad we can finally meet him,” I say, eyeing the young man in interest.
He is younger than Ezra, and while Ezra was born from the alpha’s fated mate, Callum was his child from his chosen mate. Naturally, a child born from a fated mate, especially to an alpha, will always be stronger. Their shitty father completely ignored Ezra’s birthright and groomed Callum into becoming his heir.
It’s amazing that Callum so easily saw through their father and always loved and respected Ezra as his older brother, although their father tried to keep them apart.
Callum is almost as tall as Ezra, but his hair is lighter and wavy, and he doesn’t have Ezra’s stern features. He looks a bit more approachable, yet he doesn’t seem to smile a lot. He comes closer now, nodding at his brother before he halts.
With furrowed brows, he sniffs the air slightly, his eyes widening. Cassiopeia steps forward and approaches him. “That’s why,” she smirks, and her eyes glint. “I felt drawn to your name.”
Callum stares at her before something in his eyes flashes protectively. Cassiopeia wraps her arms around his neck and brushes her lips against his. “Mine!” she purrs.
Callum wraps his arms around the princess, pulling her closer. There is a rumble in his chest and a growl as his wolf claims her as his. “Yeah, bro,” Ezra grins. “You were always more of a cat person.”
Giselle elbows him, and he laughs a bit.
“Now it makes more sense what you said to me,” Ezra says when Callum and Cassiopeia join us again. She keeps her hands possessively on his arm while he tugs her as close as possible. They are both alphas through and through. This is going to be fun.
