“Just this time with less sass.” I smirk.
“You’ll never let us live it down, will you?” Anthony grins. “Can’t blame you. I wouldn’t either.”
I turn my head slightly, looking at my mate.I promise,I link her.
She smiles at me and nods.
I don’t know what I expected. Maybe some weird magic, some disoriented feelings, a long weird corridor. But the reality is so much less spectacular. The portal is like a door, and once I go through it, I immediately step out of it again on its other side.
“You weren’t kidding,” Anders mutters. “It’s freezing here.”
“Do they even have summer?” one of my warriors asks.
“They do, but it’s very short,” I whisper. “Now be quiet. From now on, just mindlink between each other.”
We’ve let the different groups through the portal in long enough time intervals so that we wouldn’t raise any suspicions, and with enough time for the smaller teams to reach their destined spots. I know that both Liam and Aurelia circled the pack at a long distance to make sure not to cross any warriors. Once we reach the safety of the nearby forest, we shift, and I lead my warriors through the path that will bring us to the east of the pack. It almost feels like déjà vu to walk these grounds again. The last time I was here, we had to run; we had to hide, and we almost lost a friend.
Today it’s different. We are not being hunted, and we are not at a disadvantage. Now that we don’t have to run, it’s easier to approach the pack. The forest provides us protection, as does the balm my mother gave everyone before they set off, helping us cover our scents.
When we approach the borders of Blood Snow, I can see a tiny fluttery being approaching. Trixie? I can hardly believe my eyes. I thought she had disappeared back to… fairy town? I don’t even know where fairies live, but it doesn’t matter; she is here now.
She settles down on my head, holding one of Max’s ears. “The other teams are set,” she whispers. “I just checked on them, and they are waiting for you to give the signal.”
I can slowly feel the adrenaline pumping through our veins. I’ve kept calm until now, but now that we are getting closer to our destination, I can feel the anticipation and anxiety filling me. I’m so glad that Max is always so composed and calm. He is my perfect counterpart.
We’ve got this,he growls.
Now that he is in charge, he is much more present than usual. His usually relaxed and lazy attitude is completely forgotten.
My warriors scatter around, hiding behind trees and in the night’s shadow. I glance up at the starry sky, allowing myself a very brief moment to take in its beauty. The full moon is gracing us with its presence tonight, not one cloud covering it. Instead of silver, it’s covered in an intense blue.
I shift my gaze back to the task in front of me. Through Max’s sharp eyes, I scan the area. We didn’t spend enough time in Blood Snow to know all the patrols and their schedule, but it doesn’t matter. They were so fucked against the rogues; I assume they faced quite a few losses.
Ready?I link my group.
Through the link, they all agree. The twins and their men are ready too. I allow Max to rise on his hind legs, stretching his head toward the moon. It’s time.
Remember, don’t kill the omegas and slaves. Let’s keep casualties low…there are regular pack members and lower-ranked warriors that might not be on Colton’s side. And keep in mind, we have two lycans in there, fighting on our side!I send out a joint link before I allow Max to prepare himself. It’s time to fulfill my promise. We won’t be able to remain hidden for long, so make sure you attack fast and with no hesitation!I pause, tensing my body.ATTACK!

Iscantheareathrough Max’s sharp eyes while we silently scoot closer. Our first attack will be crucial because sooner rather than later, we will be discovered, and then it will only be a matter of time until Colton appears. I can’t give him the time to burn down the pack house or kill the slaves. I need to lure him out towards the area around the lake, where we can surround him from all sides. We need to act fast.
We’ve eliminated the guards at the far northern border. My father’s calm voice reaches me.Some warriors will remain there to stop anyone from escaping while I take my team to get closer to the pack area.
Dad, could some of you keep an eye on the pack house and the slaves?
I will ensure to station some of the warriors there.
My father is a seasoned warrior, and I need to trust him, so I agree with him and put my focus back on the task ahead of me. Three guards; I allow my gift to come through, scanning the area for more auras, and discover a fourth person somewhere in the trees. Probably a scout.
There are four guards,I link my group. One is in a tree ahead of us.
Elo and I can take them,Elise says.Trust us. Get into position, and when I give you a sign, you can attack.
