Nico
I’ve been eavesdropping on everyone in the house. The migraine it’s giving me makes me want to tear my own head off.
Gaius might actually get laid. Who knew that Angel had such game?
Olivia hasn’t said much, but I hear paper moving, so she must still be reading.
Makenzie is pacing and grumbling about gilded cages still being prisons.
And then there’s my Abbie.
The hound inside of me preens at the thought of claiming our mate. I growl at him. She’s not ready.
Hell, she doesn’t even know she’s an omega.
No amount of distance could erase her perfume from my senses, though. It’s imprinted on my soul. I could find her anywhere now.
When I checked on her earlier, she was making her nest. All the available blankets and pillows were arranged in the center of the bed as she smoothed and puffed them up where she wanted them.
I smell Erik before I see him.
“Her fever broke, but that will only delay the process,” I say as they enter the room.
“Nico, enough cryptic bullshit.” I sigh and turn to look at them both.
“She’s died every time you try to turn her. Not because of your venom but because you’ve jump-started her heat cycle. He’s not sick, Erik. She keeps dying from an incomplete mate bound.” He looks down at Madeline with a frown on his face as if he doubts me.
“Believe me or not. The only way she lives past the full moon is if she bites you to complete the bond.” I shrug and sip my tea.
Madeline grabs Erik by the neck and bites him.
I laugh at his reaction, spurting the tea out my nose. Her mouth comes away from his neck bloody, and when she grins, her teeth are still stained red.
“Fuck,” he growls, popping an erection that’s impressively big, still not bigger than mine, though.
“Not like that, sweetheart, but I do love your enthusiasm.” I partially shift my jaw because showing her is easier than explaining.
She gasps.
“She hasn’t shifted yet.” I nod.
“That is problem number one.” He steps closer to me and hisses.
“Out with it.” I nod and place my teacup down on the saucer.
“Although you’re packing a massive package in those trousers, you are lacking one thing that might cause a problem.” I point at his groan, but he doesn’t take my bait.
“What’s that?” He growls.
“You can’t knot her when she’s in full heat.”

ERIK
“Knot me?” Madeline interrupts us and I frown.
“It’s a part of Were anatomy that helps us procreate. Here, it’s easier to show you.” He starts to stand and unbutton his pants.
