“I guess.” Vali reddened a bit.
“It’s fine if you like both,” said Azriel. “Your Mother doesn’t seem to care, but you seem really afraid of people thinking that you’re gay.”
Vali leaned back in the chair. “People aren’t supposed to be gay here. If I went down the street while holding some guy’s hand…only men and women can be together. Besides, I’ve only ever fantasized about women. I thought some guys looked kinda nice before, but…I didn’t fantasize about them in a sexual way, and then, with you, I wanted you to keep coming back. Also, I think you’re gorgeous, and I love sucking your cock, so I don’t know.”
“Maybe it just took you a while to figure it out,” said Azriel. “If you live where it’s wrong for men to be together, I could see someone repressing that. We don’t where I live because anything is fine, and we see it. You’re not used to anyone being open with it, so maybe it took you a while to figure out that you like men and women.”
Vali bit the tip of his thumb. “I guess so.”
“You can like both and just be with one. If you married a woman, you'd stop looking for potential sexual partners, but it doesn’t change what you are. Just like if a gay guy married a woman to hide it, he’s still gay.”
“I guess I didn’t think of that. It’s not like I have humans to talk to about it.” Vali fiddled with the quill. “So if that’s the case, maybe we could do more some time. Not tonight, but maybe I’ll be willing to let something go up my butt.”
Azriel giggled. “You mean anal sex?”
“Yeah.” Vali got up to sit on the bed. “But only with my pretty angel.”
“And only with my nephilim.”

Azriel didn’t expect to wake up to someone tapping on his arm. The lantern was lit, and he expected to see Vali had gotten up for something.
Except Vali was next to him in the bed.
He gasped when he saw a demon leaning over the bed, and Vali shouted something.
“Calm down. I’m only here to tell you something.”
“What the fuck?” Azriel scooted to sit up against the headboard, and he summoned angel fire to his hand. “Get the fuck out!”
The demon tucked his emerald wings closer to his back and rolled his eyes. “I’m not here to hurt your nephilim guy. He’s pretty nice, by the way, and you shouldn’t leave your window open if you don’t want visitors.”
“What the fuck are you doing in my house?” asked Vali.
The demon put his hands on his hips. “Would you calm the fuck down? I came here because I can sense angels and demons from far away, so when I find one, I’m supposed to give them a message. There’s an island in the South Gulf where our kind can go. It’s safe, it has a barrier, and you can live freely. You can also feed, and your magic won’t run out. If it already has, you’ll get it back after a bit.”
Azriel raised an eyebrow. “That sounds like a pile of lies.”
“It’s called Eden Island. I go there to replenish, and I can still do magic even though I’ve been on Earth for decades now.” The demon raised a hand and let a few sparks crackle around his fingers.
“There is no way our magic can last that long. Everybody knows it’s starts to run out-”
“It can when you’ve got a higher angel with special powers running the place,” said the demon. “It was created partly for runaways. Nobody cares if you ran off in the middle of your army stint first of all, and while it’s mostly demons, we do have angels there, and we get along. Past shit doesn’t matter, and we don’t need fights.”
Azriel had never heard of such a thing, and he wondered how they kept it a secret. “Could I leave if I don’t like it?”
“Yeah.”
“Can I bring Vali?”
“Him? Yeah, if you keep him collared.”
“Excuse me?” demanded Azriel.
“I’m not a dog!” exclaimed Vali.
“He’s only a nephilim,” said the demon. “Those and cambions are slaves. You could allow him whatever freedoms you want, but he’ll have to stay in a collar, and if he breaks rules, you’d have to punish him.”
