“That sounds like the perfect man,” Clara said.
“Yeah, I’m afraid that someone like that doesn’t exist,” Jamie said.
“I’m sure that there is someone for you out there. He’ll show up when you least expect him to.”
“I was in love once,” Jamie said. “We were going to get married, but things didn’t work out.”
Jamie sounded sad. Clara was curious about what happened, but didn’t want to pry, so she didn’t ask questions.
The conversation was interrupted when the waitress brought their plates.
“The food is delicious,” Clara said, surprised.
“That’s why I like coming here. I can get a glass of wine, a nice meal that I didn’t have to cook, and listen to good music,” Jamie said.
The band started playing a slow song and a tall, good looking man approached the table and asked Jamie if she wanted to dance.
“Sure,” she said.
Shortly after, a man walked up to Clara.
“Would you like to dance?” he asked.
“Sure,” she said.
The man, whose name was Dean, was very good looking and charming. Clara had a great time dancing with him and talking to him. However, she declined to give him her phone number at the end of the night.
There was only one man she wanted to be with.

Dillon
Dillon paced back and forth in his store. There were very few customers coming in for some reason. It seemed like when there was one customer there were a hundred. Then there were the days when no one came in. Those days were exceedingly boring.
He rolled his shoulders and rubbed his forehead and continued walking back and forth between the counter and the front door.
“What’s eating you?” Ethan asked.
“I don’t know. I guess that I’m just restless,” Dillon replied. “I hate feeling like sitting ducks. I know that something is going to happen, I just don’t know what or when.”
“It does get wearing after a while,” Ethan said.
“So far there hasn’t been any sign of the mercenary who disappeared,” Dillon said.
“The fact that some of his belongings are missing is a good sign that he disappeared on his own,” Ethan said. “There haven’t been any signs in the mountains that there was any kind of attack.”
“That’s probably the only reason why there hasn’t been an escalation on the part of the Faisons. They are waiting for some so-called valid reason to attack,” Dillon said. “I hate to say it, but part of me is starting to side with Daniel. I wish that they would so that we could just end it, once and for all.”
“You know as well as I do that it wouldn’t be that simple. A war here would cause war to explode everywhere. There would be a lot of innocent mundane people and shifters who would get hurt. The hunters would pour out of the woodwork looking to kill anyone they even thought was a shifter.”
“I know,” Dillon said. “This whole wait and see what is going to happen next is driving me insane.”
“Maybe if nothing continues to happen then the tension will die down and things can be normal,” Ethan said.
“I could only wish,” Dillon replied.
“You have to learn to think positive.”
