“He doesn’t swim often. Don’t let him tell you he does.”
Stacey felt Tristan’s head rest on top of hers. She leaned back into his arms and gave him a squeeze before pulling away and walking over to give Desiree a hug. “I never got a chance to thank you for making the cake for my party last night. It was delicious.”
Desiree was a beautiful woman, who spent a long time getting her shit together, and now worked in a small bakery on Main Street. She makes most of the cakes and baked goods for all the parties in town.
“I’d like to take the credit, but that wasn’t mine.”
Stacey’s eyes popped. “What?” She spun toward Tristan.
His hands went out. “Sorry. I didn’t know Desiree. I had no clue she worked in the bakery. I just called the one we always use. It won’t happen again.” He winked.
Adler caught his arm and forced his attention back on him, and they walked off to the kitchen, lost in a deep conversation.
I wonder what they’re talking about.Stacey squinched her face but turned back to Desiree. She shrugged. “Sorry about that.”
Desiree waved it off. “Not a big deal. Like he said, he didn’t know me.”
“Yeah, so about that.” Stacey lifted her brows and gestured her head toward the guys.
Desiree just shrugged and whispered in her ear. “We exchanged numbers last night and talked for hours after I got home. He asked if I wanted to come today.”
“Well then, at least if I’m left alone, I have a friend.”
Desiree draped her arm over Stacey’s shoulders. “We may need to help each other not get lost. This place is huge and amazing. Have you been here before?’”
Stacey shook her head. She turned and watched Tristan and Adler.
They were still in a deep conversation, but she walked over to them anyway. “Hi, Adler.”
The conversation stopped, and she wrapped her arms around Tristan. “Hey, can we get a tour before we get left alone and become lost in the never-ending abyss of this property?”
Tristan’s eyes bore into Adler.
Adler’s held his. “Hi, Stacey.”
Tristan turned away from him and placed a kiss on her head. “Of course.”
“I’m surprised you two are here already. I figured you would have been late with all that birthday celebrating you were going to do last night. Or did you not get enough exercise?” Adler asked.
“I think we celebrated just enough. We celebrated quite a bit last night, this morning, and in the truck on the way over here,” answered Stacey. She wiggled her brows at Adler.
He froze and just looked at them. Speechless. A first, she was sure.
She glanced at Tristan. “I could go another round or two.”
There was that cheek crease. “Or three?” He dipped her low and planted one on her.
“God, you two, is this how it’s gonna be all day? You know this fundraiser is G-rated. We may be able to get by with PG, but…” he gestured through the air. “This stuff all the time will make its way to X-rated, and I know Dad won’t be okay with that.”
Desiree laughed.
The guys took them on a tour of the house and the property. To do this, they had to ride in the ATV. That in itself was an experience, as the most exciting thing Stacey ever rode was the rollercoasters at Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Desiree, on the other hand, hopped right in and had an in-depth discussion with Adler about her dad’s four-wheeler and their dirt bike that she learned to ride when she was seven.
She had Adler drooling over every word. Stacey chuckled when she saw him having to adjust his junk when they got out at the stables.
Desiree was just what Adler needed.
