Page 223 of Wrong Pucking Jersey

With everyone spending the last two weeks changing their living arrangements, our dorm building was mostly empty. It was exactly why I hoped to pass by tonight to get my jewelry box and Wolfgang’s jersey that I’d left there before we’d gone to the club to celebrate their first win a few weeks ago.

Passing by there would be the priority, then it would be over to my new home.

Home to me and my four Heartbreaker Kings.

“Girl! You shouldn’t let that shit get to you,” Mack emphasizes. “You know damn well how hot you look. Like, look at you!” She gestures at me from head to toe. “You look like a goddess who descended from the heavens to leave this place burning hot with your scorching beauty.”

“I sound like the Goddess of Hell,” I laugh but give her a naughty smirk. “But continue. I love all this commentary.”

“I knew you wouldn’t take that shit seriously,” she laughs and pats my shoulders. “Let’s get in there so all the cameras can be flashing to get the perfect close-up of you, then we gotta find your four boyfriends.”

“Oh God, I don’t have four,” I hiss and elbow her.

“Right, right. You’re only dating Maddox and just living with three others because the economy sucks, and living in a two-million-dollar mansion isn’t a sign of seriousness.”

I practically choke on my salvia as I hook my arm around hers and pull her against me.

“Two what?!” I gasp.

“Two million, Mikayla,” she declares. “I know I didn’t stutter.”

“You didn’t, but how do you know it’s two million?” I hadn’t even asked about the price when I found out they bought it.

“It’s on social media, girlfriend,” she reveals like it’s not something one would keep private.

Maybe I’m still a bit old school in certain areas, but I never once thought of revealing how much my place is worth to the public. Just makes me feel like I’m showing off when many aren’t as well off.

I felt that way even before we lost everything.

“The news that Maddox and the rest of the Strattonville Vipers got the highest starting deal in hockey history spread fast, lovely,” Mack reveals. “Then Maddox and Damien were seen driving into that neighborhood, and the realtor gave them a congrats shout-out on Instagram on their investment. I think he believes they’re going to rent it out or secure it as a party house for winning afterparties, but no one can really confirm. The place is super high security. They have one main gate before individual gates that lead to each mansion. They don’t even allow drones to be flown in the sky. I heard they hire a special security sniper who monitors the sky, and if they see a drone, they shoot it down and arrest the owner.”

“It’s that intense?” I gasp.

“Oh yeah.” Mack bobs her head. “Security and privacy are a big thing to rich people. Most athletes want to live relatively peaceful lives outside their jobs. Who wants a camera or drone following everywhere you go? It’ll come to a point where you’ll go insane from not getting a break from the flashing lights and constant interviews speculating ABCD.”

“That makes sense.” It honestly gives me a bit of relief knowing no one will spy on us.

Moving my stuff to the house was pretty smooth sailing, and the guys hadn’t unpacked their stuff to begin with, so it only took one day to get their stuff to the house.

“Anyway, let’s go make those men salivate and the press go crazy with your gorgeous ass!” Mack declares as she hooks her arm around mine.

“Does that mean I get to join?”

We glance back and gasp at Dimitri’s arrival… because holy fucking shit.

The man had to be a model in his past life.

“Holy Hot Daddy, since when have you been able to clean up so good, Dimitri?” Mack asks in dismay. I’m still looking at my team nurse in crime who’s wearing the perfectly-fitted maroon suit. His hair is gelled back, showing his single earring that shines so brightly, I feel it has to be from some fancy brand like Cartier.

He really looks unrecognizable.

“When everyone finds out you’re the gothic team nurse, the world will end,” I point out, which has him smiling as he approaches us.

“And when they see how shockingly gorgeous you both look, the applications to enter the sports medicine program specializing in team nurse registration are going to go through the roof.”

We laugh at that before we exchange quick hugs.

“Glad I met you guys. I was a bit nervous about going in alone.”
