Me: “Take your jelly butt out of my DMs.”

I can’t help but tease him. He gets jealous so easily, I wonder why he’s okay with the idea of sharing me specifically with our mini crew.

“Is he jealous I’m with you?” Dimitri asks.

“Shaking in a jealous rage,” I mock.

“Pass the phone.”

“What are you going to say?” I wonder as I pass my phone to him.

He texts something real quick and passes it back to me.

“OMG! Is that an eggplant emoji with two guys emoji?”

“It is,” he says proudly. “I think he needs a reminder that I won’t steal his girl, but if he has any guy suggestions, I’m open.”

“Maddox would never,” I laugh. “But I think Felix is openly gay on the team. Could ask him. He probably knows more about the community here than my guys would. With how strict people are here, I feel like anything un-Christian like is hidden in the underground of the community.”

Boyfriend O’Riley:“Hurry and come back.”

Me: “Unless you’re going to send a helicopter to get me, that’s not happening.”

Boyfriend O’Riley:“Don’t tempt me, Mkaykay. All that needs is a phone call to Damien, and he’d make it happen.”

Me: “Oh shit!! No. Don’t do that.”

“What?”

“I told him he’d need a helicopter to get me out of here, and he was going to call Damien to organize one.”

“God,” Dimitri gasps. “Madly in love.”

“More like possessive hockey boyfriend.”

“They’re the best ones,” Dimitri assures me. “Damien’s rich?”

“I think they’re all well off,” I note. “Though Damien comes from a really rich fami—“

“HELP! Are there any medical professionals who know CPR here? Please help! My daughter isn’t breathing!”

Dimitri and I exchange a look of surprise, then glance down at our scrubs.

“Shit,” I curse.

“That’s us,” he whispers.

We lock the car and rush to the pleading cry for help.
