~JAYCE~

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

This shouldn’t be happening.

No. This is just a hindrance to my dreams.

It happened so fucking fast.

One minute, I’m doing stunts on my bike. The next minute, I’m watching a car inches from hitting me before it swerves and crashes into a cluster of oak trees.

Watching the headlights of a car getting closer and closer to you made my heart skyrocket.

It’s a thrill I didn’t think I’d get a high from, but fuck. It was amazing.

Only, I didn’t get to enjoy the euphoria as long as I would have liked.

“Please! Is anyone a doctor, nurse, or any health professional?!! My daughter isn’t breathing! Please!!”

With a curse under my breath, I pull out my phone, hoping this frantic mother believes I’m trying to call 911 or something.

I’m sure someone close by is doing their duty in calling for an ambulance. Besides, this isn’t my problem.

Iwas minding my own business.

On my new bike.

They didn’t see me.

I would have been the victim otherwise.

Three long rings later, I’m greeted with a voice of pure annoyance.

“Jayce. If you’re calling me for money, I don’t got shit for you!”

“Dad,” my voice reveals how worried I am.Fuck.“I need your help.”

He’s silent for five long seconds before he’s groaning heavily.

“What in bloody name did you get yourself into, boy? Why am I always bailing you out? Do you not care about this hockey opportunity?!”

I knew he was going to comment on that.

Just like in Moscow.

“I didn’t do anything,” I argue.

“That’s what you always say,” he complains.

“Dad, seriously. I was on my bike going up 15th toward the stadium when a car almost hit me. I was like a deer in headlights,” I quickly explain. “They swerved and crashed into a tree nearby.”

I feel like he stops himself from going further now that the idea of me getting hurt registers in his mind.

“Are you hurt? You better not be hurt, Jayce. You know how many people are betting on you and your team to reach the championships against the Toronto Maple Leafs! You can’t afford an injury when you haven’t shown the world how good the Winchesters are.”

It’s always about keeping the legacy alive more than anything.

Who possibly cares about me, Jayce? The boy doing anything for his father’s attention.
