Court glared at him. “Or not.”
“Still her choice,” Knight pointed out with a shrug.
Court turned his annoyed look at his brother.
“Bex, it’s whatever you want,” I told her softly. “Zero pressure.”
“I wanna know,” Bex said, her voice trembling. “I need to know.”
Shaking his head, Court didn’t look convinced. “She spent the last few years making your life hell, Becca.”
“I know.” She clutched the drive in her fist as she looked up at him, uncertain. “But it might give me some answers.”
He brushed back some of her dark hair from her face, his touch lingering. “I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
Her lips twitched into a small smile. “I love that you want to protect me, but I’d rather know the truth. Even if it hurts.”
Court flinched and jerked his hand back, and I remembered that Bex still had no idea that Court was holding back the real reason he and the guys had stopped being her friend when they were kids.
“Do you want to watch it alone?” I asked her, making a mental note to tell Court to man up and tell her the truth soon, or I’d do it for him.
“Actually, would you mind coming with me?” Her hazel eyes focused squarely on me.
Behind me, Ryan cleared his throat, his hands settling on my shoulders. “You guys should use the den. We have a few things to discuss with Royal, Bishop, and Knight.”
Suspicious, I accepted the quick kiss he gave me before he left the room with Linc, Knight, and a reluctant Court.
Ash looked at Tyler. “You good?”
She nodded, not looking up as she started on a new row of the drives. “I’m going to check a few just to make sure there isn’t any malware before we start looking at them.”
Ash smiled, looking mildly amused, before following the others.
Tyler let out a sigh. “Guess there’s men-talk to be had, and us girls can’t be part of it.”
I started laughing as Chase frowned. “I’m a man.”
Tyler lifted her eyes and gave him a patronizing smile. “Sure you are, Chasey.”
He glared at her. “You’re becoming a prat, Tyler. Don’t make me send you back to London.”
She scoffed under her breath. “I’d like to see you try.”
His brows slammed down. “What did you—”
“The boys are plotting someone’s demise, I’m trying to work, Maddie and Bex are going to uncover the last great secrets of Madelaine—” Tyler sucked in a deep breath “—and what exactly are you doing to help?”
Chase glared at her while Bex and I exchanged amused glances.
“Maybe try making dinner?” Tyler suggested.
Chase looked more than a little uncomfortable. “I don’t think anyone delivers this far into the mountains.”
I laughed and wrapped an arm around Bex’s shoulders before looking at Tyler. “You can handle him?”
“I suppose,” Tyler muttered, shaking her head. “Spoiled rich kid.”
Chase threw up his arms. “So, it’s my fault I was raised by servants and had a full staff cooking my meals?”
