He ignored me. “Have you slept with him?”

I scowled. “That’s none of your business.”

“I’m guessing not from that conversation. Have you slept with anyone else?”

I could feel my cheeks getting hot, but I refused to be the first to break the stare. “Why the hell would you even ask that?”

“First, because you get flustered when I talk about sex, and it’s easy to read you,” he answered, sounding amused. “Second—I’ve enjoyed claiming your firsts.”

“My firsts?”

“Your first time dancing. And I brought you to the ocean.” His stare stayed locked on mine. “Your first kiss with a vampire. I’m curious if that was your first kiss ever.”

“It wasn’t,” I retorted, trying to calm my heart. “And I only kissed you—”

“I know why.” He cut me off. “But you can’t deny that you liked it.”

“I can absolutely deny that.”

“Then you’re lying.”

I didn’t bother to argue anymore because it was clear he wouldn’t believe me anyway. Instead, I walked closer and crossed my arms, deciding to play into his game. He wanted to get under my skin? I could do the same.

“I’ve slept with more than one guy. That first was taken years ago,” I told him. “And even if it wasn’t, you’d never be the one to claim that one. If that kiss is anything to go by, then you would be a disappointment in bed.”

Challenge brightened his eyes, and he sat up straighter. “Careful, Kali.”

“Or what?” I sneered, letting my eyes trail over him. “Going to threaten me? It looks like the chains you’re in are much worse than the one you locked around my neck.”

“Come here,” he ordered, his gruff voice shooting a jolt down my spine. “I want you to claim one of my firsts.”

I didn’t answer right away, trying to figure out where he was going with this. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to win this little game of words.

“What first?” I said, keeping my voice steady.

“I’ve never made a woman scream while I’ve been chained up. And I’ve been craving another taste of you.” He broke the stare-down first, his eyes dropping lower, telling me exactlywhathe wanted to taste. “You want to stand there and lie about what you felt about that kiss? Get your ass over here and I’ll make you admit the truth a different way.”

“No,” I snapped, ignoring the way heat curled in my lower stomach.

He grinned. “Next time, then.”

“How about never?”

A frown appeared on his lips as he lifted his eyes toward the ceiling a couple of seconds before I heard footsteps. “His obsession with you is getting tiresome.”

I nearly choked in disbelief. “His obsession? He worries about me. You’re the one who won’t leave me alone.”

“Get rid of him,” he said, nodding toward the door. “We aren’t done talking.”

I bristled. “I decide when we’re done.”

“Really?” He arched an eyebrow. “Tim won’t be happy if you don’t get any information from me.”

“If I don’t, then they’ll just torture you like they did before I woke up.”

“You think they’ve stopped?” he asked, a hard edge in his voice. “One of Tim’s lackeys was in here all night trying to get me to talk. He left an hour ago, after I said fucking nothing. I’ll only talk to you, Kali. You want to help your precious Clovers? Then tell Warner to fuck off. I want you in here with me for the rest of the day.”

His words were a surprise to me. I had no idea they were still hurting him to get information. I heard the door at the top of the stairs open but didn’t look away from Zan.
