“But you have to keep it quiet for now. I don’t really want our parents meddling just yet.”
I mimic zipping up my lips. “My lips are sealed, babe.” I stop, eyeing her up and down, then bounce my brows.
“Ewe, what are you doing, weirdo?”
“I have to know. Have you bumped uglies with Jensen yet? And I won’t be mad if you did and didn’t tell me. Okay… I’ll be a little hurt, but I won’t be mad.”
I gasp, flinging my hand to my chest because holy hell, Foxy is blushing. I never, ever thought I would see Foxy blushing. She is very serious about this relationship. Damn. “Fox… you haven’t slept with him?” She shakes her head, scrunching her lips.
“He’s special, Charley. I want it to be special with him.” Her blush is full-blown right now. Neck, cheeks, ears, the whole nine. It might be the most adorable thing ever.
“Holy shit, Jensen Tucker put a leash on my girl. I need details. And Kai?” She averts her gaze and I jump to my feet, way more dramatically than I need to, but I can’t help it. I’ve never seen Foxy like this. She slaps me on the arm.
“Fuck you.” She buries her face in her hands, and I almost lose it, but I rein myself in. She is so serious about this. I’m stunned.
“Hold on, I just need to take this in. Foxy has someone special in her life. Two people. This is fucking amazing.” A whiny groan emanates from Foxy, but she doesn’t look up. I’m fighting a laugh. “Sorry, Fox, I just need to soak this in. But it makes sense you would end up with two guys.”
For that, she slaps me with no particular aim. Her hand lands a blow to my gut that has me clenching my abs in protest.
“Rude, you’re making me feel like a whore.”
I arch a brow in her direction, which she catches at the last minute and narrows her eyes. “Well, I mean, I don’t think the words sexually promiscuous are off the table.” This time, she throws my towel, which she had balled up and set in her lap. I catch it as we make our way out of the locker room to the guys, all waiting patiently.
Kai is here standing next to Jensen and my heart warms for Foxy. She really couldn’t ask for two better guys to have. Their eyes heat as they latch on to her and she beams, despite being annoyed with me.
Riggs finds me immediately but doesn’t come closer because Brett is making his way over to me. I nod to Riggs, forming my hand into the universal shape of a phone. He nods and joins his boys. They’re no doubt headed off to get high and do whatever it is they do.
Well, I guess Kai and Jensen like to do Foxy.I laugh to myself at my bestie’s expense.
CHAPTER33
RIGGS
“What was Brett doing there?”Jensen says as he shuts the door with his foot and brings the pizzas in.
“Fuck if I know, J.”
We’ve just arrived back at my place from watching Charley play. She is so good on the ice it’s no surprise she is so involved with hockey. She is well on her way to the women’s Olympic team, for sure. “I have no right to be upset because we aren’t anything—”
“Don’t even try to tell me you’re not anything. That’s a load of bullshit. I saw the way you reacted when Jonas showed up.”
“You were the same way,” I say, hanging my keys on a hook beside the door. Tugging my gloves off of my fingers, I slip out of my Alpinestars riding jacket and toss it over the back of Gramma’s recliner. Jensen has already checked her room to make sure she’s okay. He did it before I ever even made it off of my bike. I owe him.
“Sure, as in, I hate the guy and want to protect Charley. But you wanted to kill him. I could see it plain as day. You don’t react like that if you don’t want the girl, dude.” Jensen sits his big ass in the chair holding my jacket and kicks the foot-piece out. It’s a wonder he fits in it.
Kai seems uncomfortable at first, but eventually plops down on one end of the couch. I move to the fridge and pull out some sodas, handing a can to both of them.
“For all I know, she’s with that Brett guy, or she’s getting back with that fucker Jonas.”
“No, I have to step in on that one. Hell, no. Not my sister. She won’t get back with him and she sure as hell is not a cheater. Has she told you the reason they broke up?” I grimace, not wanting to entertain this conversation, let alone learn specifics. “He cheated on her. She quit him as soon as she found out.”
Taking a second to let that sink in, I seek the remote and turn the T.V. on. The glow flickers through the room, casting my friends in whimsical shadows. It’s already getting dark outside, a sign of early fall and a reprieve from this stifling heat, so the rest of the room is hard to see.
I’m still not sure how to decipher why she left him. A part of me wanted it to be because she realized what a horrible person he was on her own, but I guess I can accept it regardless because she came to her senses and broke up with him. She could be one of those girls that stays with the guy on false apologies and promises that it will never happen again.
The plus side, she isn’t going to cheat on me. In all honesty, I never truly believed she ever would, even though she might have something going on with Brett. She doesn’t come across as that type of person to do that to someone. I simply can’t help the excessive worrying my brain puts me through. The one that said she was choosing someone else instead of me.
As much as I shouldn’t have kissed her, I can’t deny the chemistry between us. That kiss was epic and hot. I’m sure she would’ve let me fuck her right then. I wanted to. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to, but with her, it won’t be just fucking. There is something between us and if we explore it, I will do it right.
