Tank hid his shock at the God’s easy affection with Nita. Sure they all knew she’d been on Olympus for years, but he assumed she was off in the demoness corner or something.
Zeus winked at him like he’d read his mind. Shite.
“Alright, I will let you all get some rest. I am sorry for the loss of the female, Jubilee. I will protect her spirit until she passes through to the other side.” Zeus waved his hand, the wolf floated next to him, and then they disappeared.
Hurricane let out a sad sigh. Tank kissed Nita’s neck, wanting nothing more than to take his mate home and make love to her. “Abe, can you and Link take our female home and see to her comfort? I would like a moment with Hurricane and Honor if I may. Fuck, I just spoke like the big dude.” He shook his body like he had to rid it of bugs or some shit.
Nita turned in his embrace. “You sounded very refined and sexy to me. I think it’s a good idea for the three of you to talk. I’m also in need of a shower because I feel dirty in a non-good way. See you at home in a little bit.” She stood on her tip-toes and kissed him. Her tongue swiped over his upper lip, and then he was sliding his tongue inside her mouth. Good Goddess, he could get lost in her.
There was a cough and then another. Nita was pulled back by one of the twins. He was too cross-eyed to tell which for all of thirty seconds. “See, you make me lose all my self-control with one swipe of that little pink tongue, mi sreco. Go on before I say fuck it and rip your clothes off and fuck you right here in front of the entire pack.”
Abe lifted Nita up in his arms and began running like a fool toward the exit. Link followed, picking up articles of clothing Nita was tossing away. Damn, he was a fool to stay, but he was also a brother who needed to see to his family.
“Are you two okay?” he asked, gesturing toward where the wolf had been laying.
Honor swallowed audibly. “It’s going to take a bit to come to terms with her loss. I’ve known her my entire life. We were her family.”
Hurricane grabbed Honor’s hand as she waved between him and her. “That was probably one of the reasons she was easily influenced. Jubilee was always angry and tended to need more attention than the rest. Ziggy said he started to feel anger after he slept with Jubilee the night before last. Lars came to me today to tell me that Jubilee said Ziggy forced himself on her. I had planned to talk to the three of them, but now I wonder if she hadn’t been working the two of them toward some nefarious goal.”
“Oh, look at our sister using big words.” Hurricane grabbed Honor in a headlock then let her go with a grunt after she elbowed him in the stomach.
Tank patted his brother’s shoulder and let out a breath. “You know we can’t change what was, my friend. I’m glad Zeus and Bakra were here when we needed them. As for staying within the pack lands, do you think your pack will have any problems with that?”
Hurricane looked over at his crew. Tank saw the worry his half-brother couldn’t hide. “Listen, tell them it’s only a couple days. Zeus will have answers. If they feel the need to go farther, then ask them to let one of the demi-gods know. Those two have a direct line to Zeus.”
The nod the other male tossed his way wasn’t as reassuring as Tank would’ve liked. He let out a deep breath, knowing there wasn’t anything he could do to convince any of them to obey their alpha if they truly didn’t want to. He left the arena after Hurricane and Honor agreed to speak with their crew. His dad and Lorna were talking with a group of elders. Tank used their distraction to slide past, waving on his way out. The only thing he wanted to do was get home to his female and two best friends who made up their bond.
If he shifted he’d cover the ground quicker. Tank looked up at the moon, letting the glow infuse him with strength. Not knowing if the Goddess who created them was listening he sent up a silent prayer, asking her to watch over and protect his family and pack. He pushed out pictures of what he wanted from her since he wasn’t a hundred percent sure if the goddess could understand his words.
His home came into view, making muscles he hadn’t known were bunched up begin to relax. With his superior hearing, he picked up on conversations all around him, but the sweet sound of Nita’s laughter was what called to him. He picked up his pace, hopping up the steps in one silent leap. The hair on the back of his neck tingled. Without letting on that he was aware of anything, he let himself into the home. Before he shut the door, Tank stared out, trying to find the source of his unease.
There was a hollowness in the distance, but he didn’t want to stare too long and let on that he was aware. Without making it obvious, he marked the area in his mind, sending the location to his father and several other males who were on patrol. ‘Make sure all the patrols are in pairs, dad. We don’t know exactly what is out there.’
‘Who’s the alpha here, me or you?’ His dad’s tone held humor. Tank and the others were aware danger lurked. Maybe he shouldn’t have added the last bit to his mental call. He shoved his hand through his hair, wishing he knew what the hell they were facing and if whatever it was posed a threat to them and their pack.
‘Don’t beat yourself up, son. I appreciate the fact you are stepping up even when you’re newly mated. Get some rest. And yes, that’s an alpha order.’
Tank could tell his dad was actually happy, but there was a sadness too and that stemmed from the years he’d lost with his oldest two children.
“Are you coming to bed, or you going to stand there all night and try to solve the entire world’s problems?” Nita asked.
He didn’t bother with words, not when his female stood there in a T-shirt that had to be one of hers since it barely covered her sexy little ass. With a few strides, he crossed the room, and lifted Nita up by the waist, loving the way she wrapped her legs around him.
“I think you are the only person to ever think or say I had a little ass,” she said with a sigh.
“Everything about you is little and perfect for us. The Goddess knew you would complete the three of us, me, you, Abe, and Link makes us the perfect four. Through whatever is thrown at us we can handle it if we are together. We can swerve together, or if the obstacle in our way is too large, we will destroy it, together. Nothing and no one will ever come between us.” He threaded his hand through her mass of curls, palming the back of her head, claiming her lips with his as he walked them back to the master bedroom.
