"I know you know something, so can you fucking spit it out?" Devin spits.

It’s no secret that I’m meddling in shit he doesn’t want me to be. But it’s for all our benefit. I have to believe that.

"No, I can't. You just need to trust me."

"You know, that's getting harder and harder right now. I know you're the one behind our supply issue. Care to explain that one?"

"No. What's going on is bigger than your fucking supply."

"Well, did you want to tell Victor that because he's been riding our asses? If we don't do what he wants, then he won't initiate us."

"Of course he will. You're his fucking blood."

"You sure about that? He doesn't seem to give a fuck about Gray."

My teeth grind as I glare at him. I get it. That prick is our little brother. But he’s better off where he is right now. As far away from Victor as fucking possible.

"Enough, okay. I just need you to trust that I have all our futures—Kane's included—as my first priority right now. So will you just do as I say and shut the fuck up."

"Jesus, who got your panties in a twist? You need to get fucking laid or something, Bro." Letty startles when a feral growl rips from my lips.

"Let's fucking go," I bark unwilling to stand here listening to this any longer when Kane is in trouble. Pushing from the counter, I physically shove Devin in the direction of the front door.

"Where are we going?" Letty asks quietly.

"The clubhouse. If Victor's got him, that's where he'll be."

She freezes the second our location rolls off my tongue. I know why. She’s been there before. She knows the kind of shit that goes down.

She also knows that Kane isn’t there for a friendly drink with his old boss.

Fuck. This is a fucking mess.

Walking around her, I lower down so I can look right into her eyes.

If she’s coming with us, then she needs to get with the fucking program. If she can’t, she can stay here and wait.

"Letty, Letty. Scarlett," I repeat, dragging her back to reality. "Everything is going to be okay. I got both of you out of there, almost unharmed,” I say, referring to the day both her and her father ended up tied to chairs in one of Victor’s cells. “I'll do the same for Kane. Victor just wants to issue his warning, but he won't win. Not against me."

"W-what are you playing at?" she whispers, searching my eyes as if she’ll find the answer.

"That's for me to know, Princess."

A sob erupts from her throat at my use of Kane’s nickname for her.

"If he's not okay, Reid. I-I don't k-know—"

"He'll be fine. We're one step ahead of that cunt. You have nothing to worry about.”

"You're kinda scary, you know that?" she asks as I wrap my arm around her shoulders and guide her toward the door that Devin's already disappeared through.

"I've been told a time or two, yeah." I chuckle.

Devin is already in my passenger seat waiting when we get there. So much for being a fucking gentleman. Not that Letty cares as she jumps into the back.

“What?” he barks when I just glare at him.

“You’re a fucking prick, Bro.”
