“Jokingggggg,” he drags out the word, “What do you want?”
“I need you to have Arizona for a few weeks; you can either stay here or she can come to yours. You’ll just need to make sure you’re around if she is ever on call at the hospital and can’t get a cab.”
“Yeah, sure, no problem,” I hear him groan a little and my ears prick at the sound.
“I’m warning you though, no lady friends in the house while she is home, do you understand?”
“Scout’s honor.”
“I mean it Keaton, I’m being serious.”
“And so am I.”
“Okay, she has work on Sunday night, so she won’t be home until Monday around six-ish, I’ll grab a key from you at work for her, don’t want her stranded if you forget.”
“I’m not going to forget.”
“Dude, you forgot her when you were babysitting her for me. You left her in the house as you got in the car.”
“Did I drive off though?” he counter argues.
“No.”
“Right.”
“But you still left her in the house,” I frown, looking at the phone like what the fuck.
“I was making sure the car was safe.”
I scoff and let out a loud rumble of a laugh.
“Okay, thanks man, I really appreciate it.”
“Sorry, you’ve not told me why?” Keaton snaps as I hear the sound of glasses clinking.
“I’ve got to go to England for Amora.”
“How long for?”
“Hoping a few weeks.”
“Why are you going there now?”
“Cause Xavier is a cunt,” I shrug and I see the horrified look on Ari’s face, “Cover your ears sweet pea, sorry,” I say with a grimace and wince.
“Standard. Okay, but yes, I will watch your little ray of sunshine,” he teases her nickname on his tongue and it instantly gets my back up.
“Bye,” I cut the phone off and smile up at Ari. “So, you’re going to Uncle Keaton’s,”
She nods then steps towards me.
“Dad…”
“Yes Sunshine.”
“You didn’t tell him about Jeff.”
“Don’t you worry about Jeff,” I wink and pull her in for a hug. “Daddy will sort Jeff out.”
