‘I’m going to go slow...’ He kissed her sweetly. ‘You can stop at any point, Lily. Do you understand?’
She nodded.
‘I need to hear you say the words, Sunshine.’
‘I understand.’
‘Good.’
He reached into a drawer in the nightstand and pulled out a foil square. He reared back and she watched him roll latex on his daunting length. She was suddenly nervous. Excited, but tense. Falling into her head were questions and possibilities, and it was Julian’s teeth biting her lip that had her coming back to him.
‘I’ll take care of you, Lily.’
She watched him move to the foot of the bed, pulling off her underwear. She stopped breathing entirely when his mouth lowered to her sex. His tongue had her awash in sensation, her hips bucking to meet his mouth and a large arm curled around her, his hand pinning her to the bed, and he licked and sucked and soon had her drowning in a river of pleasure.
The bedding fisted in her palms, she uttered a melody of whimpering cries she had no capacity to understand as they filled the room.
Further and further away she was swept in this torrent. Her toes curled. Her body was his to control. She was relaxed, and yet strung impossibly taut, and as she begged him...begged for release...just before she could be taken over the edge she was in Julian’s arms, foreheads connected, his hardness at her entrance for one eternal moment before he thrust into her and held her tightly.
A cry fell from her mouth and he kissed it away. Keeping still, he held her close until she could adjust to his large intrusion.
‘You’re okay, Sunshine. Take as long as you need.’
His voice didn’t sound like his at all. It was strangled. Tense.
The burn faded quickly and she tried moving her hips, shocked at just how good it felt. So Julian began to move. Slowly at first. And then he bent her leg, which she wrapped around his hip, and she couldn’t think. Couldn’t breathe.
How could anything feel this good? It was killing her in the best possible way.
‘Breathe, Lily,’ he whispered in her ear, which only sent her soaring that much higher. ‘You’re incredible.’
She wanted to respond. Wanted to say something—anything. But there were no words in the world. There never would be. All that existed was Julian and how he made her feel.
She opened her eyes—that she had no idea when she had closed at all—to see their bodies joined, moving rhythmically together. Julian’s body chorded, betraying the strength that lay in those muscles that treated her so gently. His light eyes—so dark—heated but there was something more than heat in them and her body pulled tight, caught in a raging torrent. Her pleasure crested until she crashed around him, shouting out his name as he grunted his own release.
Panting was the only sound in the silence.
She felt Julian’s head in the crook of her neck, tried to stroke his hair but she was boneless.
Lily wasn’t sure what she’d expected, but it certainly hadn’t been this. Pleasure so intense that a tear fell from her eye, cutting a wet path down to her temple.
She felt Julian’s lips there. Kissing away the tear before the next one fell. His tongue was tracing up its path. Licking away the overwhelming emotion. A gentle kiss was placed on her closed eye. Then the other. He kissed her cheeks and her nose and her forehead, and lastly her lips. Lingering there. The taste of salt on his tongue.
Then he pulled away from her, disposing of the condom before collecting her in his arms and covering their bodies in a thick duvet.
As she lay in his embrace, sated and happy, Lily wondered if she did herself a disservice by waiting so long. Could she have had this before?
‘No,’ she heard Julian say. ‘I know what you’re thinking, and it wouldn’t be like this with anyone else. This is us.’
Her eyes began to droop as Julian stroked his fingers through her hair, and it wasn’t long at all before Lily was sound asleep. Her last thought was that this date wasn’t just for their plan. This was more. This was so much more...
* * *
The first thing Lily noticed when she woke up was the empty bed. She had woken briefly earlier, to the warmth of Julian’s naked body pressing against her, his arms wrapped tightly around her. Deep steady breaths had told her he was fast asleep but now the sheets were cold where had lain.
She emerged from under the covers that were so carefully tucked around her, brushing her hair away from her face. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she finally looked around the room she had slept in.
The ceiling and two walls were made entirely out of panels of glass. Above her the sky was still a deep blue, slowly turning lighter. The panoramic view allowed her to see the golden rays as the sun slowly began to rise. The wall behind the headboard and the one on one side of the room were the only solid ones. There wasn’t much in this room. A massive bed, two lights fixed above the nightstand, and in the corner where the three glass walls met, sat a solitary chair with a lamp arching over it.
