I can’t help taking a step closer. That step turns into three, and then I’m kneeling beside her, watching sweat bead on her forehead as she makes little whimpering noises in her sleep.

I look her over, take in a deep breath, and I can tell what’s wrong.

Researching Omegas was a constant hobby before I started seeing Dale, and it stayed that way while I navigated our relationship. I know almost everything there is to know about Omegas.

She’s perfuming like crazy out here alone. Her slick is coming out so thick her dress is getting damp around her ass and thighs. She’s sweating and her body is tired and hurting.

Her heat was delayed, and she’s starting to go through it now.

When she wakes up, and it better be soon, she’s going to need her Alphas.

Fuck. This is so fucking fucked.

I stomp toward the room I saw Archer march Zane into earlier. I can’t just do nothing like I’d planned. Not when an Omega is starting to get sick while her Alphas act like idiots in the next room.

The room I storm into is a partially finished dining room, and Archer is sitting at a table with Zane, who clearly still has his hands tied behind his back.

Archer turns, and I see the surprise in his eyes before he gets to his feet.

“Harris. I thought you’d headed back to the mainland?”

“There’s no fuel in the hangar,” I tell him, tossing him the keys.

He catches them and frowns, glancing back at Zane.

“Well, nobody asked,” Zane says, shrugging and giving us a shit-eating grin.

“You can’t seriously tell us there isn’t a way back to the mainland,” Archer snaps at him.

“I’ll have a new shipment of fuel in two days,” he says. “Until then, yeah. We’re pretty much stuck here together.”

I close my eyes and shake my head. The guy is a lunatic. He planned for there to be no way back to the mainland. He’s clearly never heard of medical emergencies.

Opening my eyes, I glare at him. “Zoey’s in trouble. She’s passed out in your lobby, sweating and shaking in her sleep. One of you idiots better go help her before it’s too late.”

I turn around to leave.

Archer darts out of the room ahead of me.

“Wait, Cameron,” Zane asks.

I turn around, grinding my teeth as I face the asshole who caused Dale so much pain for so many years. He doesn’t look happy now. He stands up with a little bit of difficulty, tipping his chair over as he gets out of it.

“I have nothing to say to you that doesn’t start with a punch and end with a whole load of broken bones.”

“It isn’t like you think it is. It never was. I didn’t hurt Dale on purpose. Losing Zoey made me lose my mind. I wasn’t worth Dale’s time while I was so fucking lost. He was better off without me. He was better off with you.”

I roll my eyes. “Keep telling yourself that. What’s happening to Zoey right now is going to happen to Dale, too. Only his delayed heat is entirely on your shoulders, because you’re the one who denied him access to the Alpha he desperately fucking needed.”

I turn away and leave the room.

I can hear him rushing after me.

Turning back around, I see he’s only a few feet away when I get back to the lobby.

“If you let anything bad happen to Dale, I’ll kill you.”

Same goes for Zoey, but I know Archer will make sure she’s okay.
