“I believe in fate,” she says. “Everything happens for a reason.”
“Okay,” I murmur.
“You’re here for a reason, Cam. You’re supposed to be here.”
“I am?”
She nods. “My true mates brought you here, and Dale needs you to stay.”
“Your mates …” I murmur, frowning. “I thought Zane and Dale were your mates?”
“They are,” she says, smiling. “But so are Archer and Russ, and …”
“And?” I ask, my heart starting to race.
Does she think I might be her mate, too?
If she’s taking Russ Kent as a mate, she’s not prejudiced against Betas.
Don’t be dumb, Cam. She’s not out here trying to collect as many mates as possible.
“And I have the same feeling when I look at you,” she murmurs.
“Wait, what?” I ask, not believing it.
“You feel like mine, and you feel like Dale’s. I’d like it if you’d stay and find out how you feel about taking us as mates. I know Dale would love it if you’d consider it. Please, promise me you will.”
It’s crazy. We don’t know each other, and she’s the most famous person on the planet.
Still, it’s the first time I’ve really felt like I wanted something I’ve been offered in ever.
Well, since the first time I kissed Dale.
There’s only one problem.
“I don’t think I can get past what Zane did to Dale.”
She nods slowly. “Because he didn’t look after him when I went missing?”
“He acted like Dale had stopped existing, like he was gone. It was fucked up.”
“I get that, and I don’t know exactly why things happened the way they did, but Zane has a good heart. If you give us a chance, you’ll see that for yourself.”
I want to believe her, so fucking badly, but I don’t know if I can.
“I don’t know.”
It’s the shittiest answer ever, and it’s not the one I wish I could give.
“Well, I hope you think about it and decide to come back.”
She sounds disappointed that I’m leaving.
“I’ll think about it,” I promise, knowing I won’t be able to stop thinking about it.
“Have a safe flight.”
She turns and walks back to the hotel.
