Eleazar snarled at Shayde, still on edge from his sudden awakening. But his anger soon dissipated when he saw the paper in Shayde’s hand.

Shayde held up the paper. “Dr. Caldart faxed over the results of Andrew’s bloodwork. I thought you should see this.”

Eleazar took the paper from Shayde and scanned the results, his heart racing. It couldn’t be true. It couldn’t be happening, but the evidence was right there in front of him.

Andrew was pregnant.

Shayde stood motionless, watching Eleazar, as if waiting for Eleazar to confirm what the findings had already stated. Eleazar was too busy being blown away. He and Andrew were going to be parents.

He was going to be a father.

“Congratulations?” Shayde slowly said, as if he was testing the waters.

Eleazar looked down at Andrew’s sleeping form, and his chest tightened. He no longer felt as if he was falling in love with Andrew. He knew he was already in love with him.

If Eleazar’s enemies thought he was lethal before, now that he had a pregnant mate, Eleazar was going to be even more dangerous. He would stop at nothing to protect his mate and their unborn child. The thought of anyone trying to harm them made his blood boil.

He turned to Shayde, his expression hardening. “I want to increase our security measures at once,” he commanded. “No one, and I mean no one, is to harm Andrew or our child.”

Shayde nodded in agreement. “I’ll take care of it right away.” He hesitated. “How is this even possible?”

Eleazar shook his head. “I don’t know, but keep this between us until I can figure this out.”

“You have my word that I won’t betray your trust.” He looked down at Andrew then back at Eleazar, a smirk on his face. “I’m going to be an uncle.”

As Shayde left the room, Eleazar turned his attention back to Andrew, gently running his hand over his mate’s stomach. The thought of having a child with Andrew overwhelmed him with joy and fear. Joy for the new life they’d created together and fear for the dangers that lay ahead. Eleazar could feel the weight of responsibility settling on his shoulders.

Andrew stirred and opened his eyes, looking up at Eleazar. “What’s wrong?” he asked groggily.

Eleazar’s heart swelled with love for his mate, but he knew that Andrew was going to have a meltdown when Eleazar told him the truth.

He handed the results to Andrew, who took the paper and looked it over. He blinked several times as his jaw dropped. “There has to be some kind of mistake. The doctor mixed my results with someone else’s.”

Eleazar sat on the edge of the bed. “There is no mistake.”

“But…how?” Andrew looked the paper over again, growing pale. “This isn’t right, Eleazar. This isn’t possible. I’m a guy. Men can’t get pregnant. I’m missing vital body parts to make that happen.”

“If I were human, I would agree that the results had to be an error.” He sat next to him and slid an arm around him. “But I’m not human, Andrew. I’ve heard of this happening in myths, but I never believed them.”

Andrew looked up at him. “So you had no idea if this could happen?”

“No.”

“Good, then I don’t have to neuter you for keeping such a possibility from me.”

“I’m just as much in shock as you are.” Eleazar kissed his temple. “I’m still wrapping my head around the fact that you are carrying my unborn child.”

“Oh god,” Andrew groaned. “Of fucking god.” He pressed a hand to his stomach. “I think—”

Andrew jumped up and ran toward the bathroom, leaving Eleazar sitting there, still stunned that his mate was truly pregnant.

Chapter Eleven

Andrew was in shock. He wasn’t sure what to say or think as he sat at the table in Eleazar’s bedroom—he needed to start thinking of it as his own room since his things had already been moved in there—slowly eating the food Sonny had brought him, feeling as if he was running on autopilot.

Eleazar had gone to talk to Shayde, leaving Joaquin to look after him. The vampire was outside of the bedroom door, but Eleazar had informed Andrew that he now had his own bodyguard.

This was so surreal.
