He was knocked up.

Andrew pressed a hand to his stomach. That would definitely explain his sickness, though he wasn’t sure if the frequency of his nausea was common. Did pregnant women throw up this much?

Then again, nothing about this was normal. He shouldn’t even be pregnant, so who knew what normal was supposed to be?

Andrew shoved his plate aside and stared out the window. He was going to be a father. The reality of his situation didn’t even feel real. Was he happy about this? Was he looking forward to being pregnant and… Holy shit. How was he even going to give birth? He didn’t have the parts required for pushing a baby out.

He needed to talk to someone about this, so he stood and headed for his bedroom door. He needed to talk to Zach. His friend was already having a nightmarish time trying to kick whatever drug Chainsaw had given him to keep him sedated.

As soon as he opened the door, Joaquin turned to him.

“I’m going to Zach’s room.”

Joaquin nodded and followed Andrew. They were still waiting on the results of Eleazar’s blood results. That kept Andrew on edge also, because the thought of losing Eleazar was too much to think about, and he wished the damn doctor would hurry up with his tests.

When he arrived at Zach’s bedroom, he saw a vampire standing outside Zach’s door. “Who is he?” Andrew asked.

“Shayde insisted he be guarded,” Joaquin said. “This is Isaak.”

Isaak simply looked at Andrew then at Joaquin. “Shayde didn’t tell me to let the human have visitors.”

“Stand down,” Joaquin said with an authority that shocked Andrew. The guy had been nothing but soft spoken to Andrew.

“I can’t,” Isaak said. “Shayde’s command overrules yours.”

“Are you shitting me?” Andrew spat. “He’s my friend. My best friend. You’re not stopping me from going inside.”

Andrew reached for the door, and Isaak reached for his wrist to stop him. Andrew gasped when Joaquin struck, hitting Isaak so hard that the vampire flew sideways. “Eleazar’s command overrules everyone’s,” Joaquin snarled. “If Master Andrew wants to visit his friend, you stand down.”

“I don’t think you had to do that,” Andrew whispered.

“I totally think I should have done more.” Joaquin winked. “Go inside. I’ll stay right here and teach Isaak the finer points of your authority in this house.”

He had authority in this house? He ignored the two as he gave a soft knock then opened the door. Zach was standing at the window, looking out. At least he looked better than he had before. The color was returning to his cheeks, and he was finally out of bed.

“You’re like a nursemaid,” Zach teased. “You’ve visited me more since I’ve been here than when we hung out.”

“I’m sorry about what happened to you.” Andrew stood at Zach’s side. “I tried to stop Chainsaw.”

“You rescued me,” Zach said. “That’s all that matters to me.”

To Andrew’s surprise, Zach hugged him. His friend had never done that before.

“I actually came here to talk to you about something.”

With a nod, Zach waved toward the loveseat. When they sat, Andrew told his friend about his tests results. He wasn’t sure if he should tell Zach, but if his friend betrayed him and told anyone else, who would believe him?

Zach’s jaw dropped. Andrew knew the feeling.

His friend glanced at Andrew’s stomach then looked in his eyes. “Are you sure? How is that even possible?”

It seemed everyone was asking that question. “Don’t know.”

“Did you have a bun in the oven when Maximus kidnapped you?”

Andrew nodded. He had to have conceived the first time he and Eleazar had had sex because he’d gotten sick when they’d gone to the movies. It still didn’t seem real to him, but Eleazar had had a point.

They weren’t dealing with two humans. Eleazar was a vampire, which shouldn’t be possible and neither should the fact that wolf shifters existed. If those things were in the realm of possibility, who was he to say that male pregnancy wasn’t.
