He arrived at the address Andrew had given him in record time, pulling up to the curb. He saw Andrew standing outside, tears in his gray eyes.
Without a word, Eleazar got out of the car and pulled Andrew into his arms. The human clung to him tightly, burying his face in Eleazar’s chest. Eleazar held him close, stroking his back in a calming motion.
After a long moment, Andrew finally pulled away. “I’m sorry,” he said through his tears. “I shouldn’t have left without telling you. I just didn’t know what else to do. I had to save my friend.”
“It’s all right,” Eleazar assured him. “I understand the need to save the one you care about.”
Which only reminded Eleazar of Zakrem. He’d killed his brother in rage and had regretted it ever since. Eleazar couldn’t count how many nights he wished his brother was still alive, that he’d handled the situation differently.
Andrew shook his head. “But I didn’t save him, and I could have been killed.”
“Fortunately, you weren’t,” Eleazar said firmly. “Do you have any clue where this Chainsaw might have taken Zach?”
Andrew cleared his throat, as if composing himself. “There’s this biker place on Rollin Avenue. It’s this building that—”
“I know of the place.” Eleazar turned to Shayde. “Have the Rolls towed to the dealership for repairs.”
Shayde gave a single nod. “But I’m coming with you. That part of town isn’t—”
“I might have an elite squad who watches my back, but do you think for one second I can’t handle myself?”
“Of course not, but I’m still driving you.”
Shayde opened the back door to the Mercedes, and Eleazar climbed inside, Andrew tucked at his side. He knew his second would call someone to have the car taken care of. Shayde was nothing if not proficient.
Ten minutes later they pulled in front of the clubhouse where the Ridgeway Riders hung out.
“Stay in the car,” Eleazar said to Andrew.
“But you don’t know what Chainsaw or Zach looks like,” Andrew said.
Eleazar didn’t need to know. All he needed was Chainsaw’s scent. Once a vampire had a scent, they had it for life. If the biker thought he could hide from Eleazar, he had another think coming. It might take Eleazar some time to find the scent, but when he did, he was spilling Chainsaw’s entrails for harming Andrew.
The human’s eye looked bruised, as did his cheek, and he kept rubbing his head. Once they were home, Eleazar would summon the doctor to check Andrew over.
He stepped out and walked toward the door to the building. The door swung open before Eleazar reached it.
“Eleazar?” Raiden said. “What brings you here?”
Raiden was the club leader, a respected, feared human who did not walk on the side of the law. But Eleazar had had a few meetings with the man, and so far, they respected one another. “One of yours has harmed one of mine.”
Raiden’s eyes narrowed. “Come on inside.”
Eleazar stepped inside the building. There was mismatched furniture, loud music playing, and one couple was having sex in the corner on a recliner. Some men were playing pool, while others sat at the bar drinking and talking or laughing.
“Tell me what happened,” Raiden said.
A few eyed Eleazar, but no one said anything to him. He explained to Raiden what Andrew had told him.
“Fucking Chainsaw.” Raiden sighed. “My brother sometimes lacks common sense.”
It was news to Eleazar that the two were related. “Where might I find him?”
“Now wait a minute.” Raiden held up a hand. “He might be a fuck-up, but he’s blood. I can’t let you kill him. I know I owe you for saving my ass, but he’s my brother.”
“Simply hand over Zach,” Eleazar said. “Tell your brother to keep as far away from the guy as possible.”
Eleazar wasn’t going to let this go. He might let Raiden think it would be water under the bridge, but a lesson needed to be taught that his human servant wasn’t to be harmed. If Eleazar swept this under the rug, more powerful men might think they could cross that line.
