“That was so attractive,” Lisabell breathes from beside me.
I have to agree with that. I stare straight into Xander’s eyes. Every inch of me wants to get him alone and kiss him until we’re both breathless and aching for each other. But we’re not alone, so I clear my throat and force myself to look away from his piercing gaze.
“Always showing off,” Declan mutters, shaking his head slightly. There’s a smile on his face as he gets to his feet. “So, what are we drinking?”
“Anything with vodka,” I reply immediately.
“Same,” Lisabell agrees.
Xander asks for a type of whiskey. Declan’s about to walk out but then he gestures at Lisabell.
“Want to come along?”
She nods enthusiastically and the two of them leave, closing the door behind them.
“This feels like a matchmaking attempt to you, too, doesn’t it?” I ask Xander with a grin.
“Or it could be the opposite,” he states. “I can’t trust Declan around women.”
“Oh, really?” I say, my voice taking on a seductive note. “But you trust yourself around women?”
“Actually, there’s one in particular that’s been driving me out of my mind these days.”
I lean closer until our noses are touching. “What if she doesn’t want you to exert control?”
“I would warn her to run for the hills but I’m in too deep. She’s quite literally stuck with me now.”
My breath grows shallow as we stare at each other. Seconds tick by before I push my fingers into his dark hair and pull him even closer. A smile tugs at the corners of my lips, right before his mouth takes mine in a breath-taking kiss. His tongue captivates mine as his grip on my waist tightens. I moan into his mouth, the ecstasy of the moment consuming me. My teeth capture his bottom lip and Xander groans before pulling away.
“We should stop, unless we want Declan and Lisabell walking into some pretty X-rated things.”
“They’re mature enough to handle it,” I breathe.
Xander chuckles and leans closer to my ear. He nibbles on it and I gasp as heat races through me. I’m practically throbbing with need.
“Don’t worry, Juliette. You’re going home with me tonight and I’ll make sure to fuck you so good, you won’t be able to walk straight.”
My body tingles at the promise. A knock on the door distracts us and we both turn as one of the waiters walks in, carrying a bucket of drinks.
“Where’s Declan and Lisabell?” Xander asks the man.
“They asked you to join them on the dance floor sir,” the waiter says. He bows his head once before exiting the room. He didn’t even look Xander in the eye once before he left.
I nudge his chest with my elbow. “You love being treated like royalty, don’t you?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
But the look in his eye tells me he doesn’t mind. At all. He can be so arrogant sometimes. I sigh then get to my feet. I head over to the drinks and pour myself a glass of the vodka that had been provided for us. I knock it all down in one gulp, feeling it warm me up entirely. A fuzzy feeling rolls through me.
“Come on, let’s go dancing.”
He freezes before running a hand through his hair. “Juliette, I don’t dance.”
“You’re dancing tonight,” I say firmly. “Unless you want me to go find another dance partner. I’m sure lots of other men would be willing.”
He’s standing up before I can finish the sentence.
“No one touches you but me,” he states possessively.
