"Well, Alexis Turner, you better get inside before we’re making out in your car at work. I'm pretty sure you would consider that to be unprofessional too," he said with a smile.
"Right." She quickly put her number in his phone and gathered her things. "Well, I'm going in. I’ll see you later."
"You can count on that," he said with a smile. He barely fought the urge off to spank her round ass as she got out of the car.
As she walked inside, he stopped to collect his thoughts. What the fuck was he doing? He couldn’t have a relationship with her. Not the kind she deserved. Even though it was what he wanted so badly. He wanted that very badly. He hadn't felt like this in a very long time, and that ended horribly. He wouldn’t do that to someone again.
The dread of the conversation that he needed to have set in. He wanted to spend this weekend with her. Fuck her, spoil her, and then maybe they could find a way to be friends. The thought of her not being in his life regularly set a deep pit in his stomach. He knew he was someone who fell fast and hard. Feeling things deeply was all part of being an artist, but he needed to make sure they were on the same page before he proceeded any further.
He got out of the car and took a brief walk. Getting his phone out he saw her number saved there.
Liam - Can't wait to see those falls with you later *winking face emoji*
Lexi - Me either
He headed quietly back to the inn and made his way up to his room. He needed a shower and to catch up with his old manager. Part of fixing the messed-up situation he was in was putting supportive people back in his circle. His old manager Sue was just that. She had stepped aside after the last big scandal, but that was a mistake. He needed her back. That would be his first step in making things right.
Chapter12
Lexi
Walking into the inn, Lexi tried to find some semblance of normalcy that hadn't been exploded by her night with Liam James. It was still something she was having trouble wrapping her head around. She had just spent the night with one of the most recognizable faces in the world. What planet was she even living on right now? She felt like she was floating.
"I was wondering when you were going to show up," said Nancy. "You are usually in here at eight-thirty on the nose."
"What?" Lexi said, Nancy's words pulling her out of her trance.
"Nothing, I was just commenting that you are here later than usual. Are you feeling okay?" She asked, her brow furrowed with concern.
"Oh yeah, I'm fine. Overslept. Well, I need to get to work," she said, making a bee line for her office. She needed a few minutes away from Liam to collect herself.
She collapsed into her office chair and turned on her computer. Her mind drew a blank on what she needed to do today. Luckily, she kept a very organized calendar.
"Hey Nancy, have we heard from the plumber yet?" she called out to the front desk.
"Not yet.”
Okay, she could do this. She slapped her cheeks to try and wake herself up from the Liam James dream state. It wasn’t like her to get this wrapped up in a crush, or really anyone for that matter. She blew out a breath and opened her email to get to work, only for her phone to ding with a text from an unknown number.
Unknown Number - I can't wait to see the falls with you *winking face emoji*
God damn it. Now her heart was all swoony again.
Lexi - me either.
She texted back and saved the number to her phone.
Finally, after multiple cups of coffee, she had managed to find her focus. She was getting work done when the plumber showed up.
"Right this way, I’ll show you to the room," she said.
After showing the plumber up to the room, she noticed it was only down the hall from Liam's. She tried not to be distracted by the thought of him on the other side of the door. As she walked past Liam's suite the door cracked open just enough to reveal a sliver of him... in a towel. He peeked his head out. When he saw there was no one in the hall he took her hand and pulled her into the room.
"What on earth are you doing?" she squealed in surprise.
"I thought I heard your voice."
"I have to get back to work..." she said, unable to take her eyes off his chest. His strong, tattooed, wet chest. He put a hand on her belly pressing her up against the door. Her heart was pounding out of her chest. She wanted badly to pull at that towel and watch it fall from his body, but she couldn't do this... not here. His mouth closed on hers and kissed her. When his tongue swept into her mouth, she could feel her heartbeat pounded in her chest. And between her legs.
