He reached out and shook Liam's hand. "Hello Mr. James, I am happy to make your acquaintance. I hear you are looking to buy some property in Mystic Falls, is that correct?"
"Yeah, what do you have for me?" He asked as they sat on the couch.
"There are a couple properties that might interest you. One is an old farmhouse; the property butts up against an orchard and we should move on that one quickly if you want it. It comes with a big old barn. It would need lots of renovation, but I think it could meet your needs. The other is a five-acre lot. It is right next to the state park that has the falls. Both options are reasonably priced. You could build on the property or renovate the old farmhouse."
He sat out two folders on the coffee table before Liam. He picked up one and opened it. Pictures of a cute farmhouse and a big red barn, it was beautiful and picturesque.
"I thought you might be able to convert the barn into a studio. The structure is in good condition. I could help you find a team to work on it, if you choose to go that route."
Liam nodded and continued flipping through the paper. He set it down then picked up the other. Inside that one was pictures of land, and he could see how close it was to the falls.
"That one will clearly take more time, but it will be easy to get everything ready for water and power. Sometimes that can be an issue building a new structure, but this one is pretty straightforward."
"These look amazing. I’ll talk to some people and get back to you. I'm hoping to get started on this soon."
Both of the men rose, and Liam reached out and shook his hand. "Heinrich will show you out. I appreciate you meeting me this late. My schedule can be a little crazy sometimes."
"It was my pleasure, Mr. James. I look forward to working with you." He turned and followed Heinrich out of the apartment.
Liam walked over and gazed out the window. It was twilight and the city was falling into that magic time of night. He craved Lexi next to him. He wanted to snake his arms around her waist and snuggle in close, smelling her coconut shampoo. He wanted to hear her dry, sarcastic wit. And, if he was being honest, he also wanted her in his bed, his face buried between her legs. But there would be time for that. Tomorrow actually.
He went to his room and video called her. It was time for their nightly talks, and he was anxious to see her face tonight. He was really hoping she wasn't hurting. She was beautiful to him. He hoped she felt that way, but he was willing to spend the rest of his life making sure she did. It would be his new life's work. Now that things were back on track, he wanted her by his side. Here’s hoping she wanted the same thing.
Chapter28
Lexi
Earlier in the week Liam had tried to talk Lexi into taking a car, but she was perfectly capable of driving. The town was only two hours away. So, Lexi got herself ready in the amazing outfit that Poppy brought over that morning and headed to the concert. She was beginning to regret her decision when she went to pick up the ticket Liam had left her. She could feel the eyes following her. The whispers wondering if she was the mystery girl. She would much rather be backstage with Liam than dealing with this.
Lexi sighed with relief as she made her way to the VIP seating. There were many of the perks to dating the rock star, and this was one of her favorites. She hated crowds and often felt claustrophobic in them. This allowed her to be a part of this whole experience and have her own space. Which she was especially grateful for with people recognizing her. Of course, she wasn't ashamed, but she did not like the extra attention. She wasn't sure of the best way to deal with it. Liam was a pro at this, quite literally. There were a few other reserved chairs in the area, but right now it was just her and she was more than happy with that.
She pulled out her phone and texted Liam good luck and slid it back into her purse.
As the opening acts started, she was joined in the box by a couple men in suits and a familiar face, one she wasn't really happy to see. Jacinda. Lexi knew Liam was thinking about firing her, but it clearly hadn't happened yet. Maybe they had come to an understanding? That was his business. She could be polite to just about anyone. Working in the service industry gave her an easy demeanor of steel.
"Oh hello, Lexi, is it? I'm sorry, it's so hard to keep track." she asked with a fake smile.
"That's correct. How are you doing, Jacinda?" Lexi said, biting her tongue.
"I'm fine, just getting things set up for Liam's next album."
Lexi just nodded. Liam had already told her that he was taking a break. This woman was something else.
"I'm so sorry about the picture that got leaked. They said some truly awful things," Jacinda said with mock sympathy.
"I didn't read it, and I don't really care what people have to say about me. I'm comfortable in my own skin and other people's opinions of me are really none of my business."
"Wow... that's so brave of you. I wish I was as confident as you are."
Lexi looked to the stage as the opening act was starting, glad this meant her conversation with Jacinda was over. It's funny how being told that she was brave and confident could feel like such a backhanded compliment. But it would seem Jacinda wasn't quite done talking.
"I'm glad you can ignore it. Sadly, we don't have that luxury," she said loudly over the music.
"What do you mean?"
"It's just that Liam's image is such a big part of his career. We’re trying to decide the best way to handle it. So much of him is the fantasy. And if he’s dating anyone it can be an issue. Let alone someone like you?"
Lexi's blood was starting to boil. She was being as nice as she could, but this woman was ridiculous.
