"Yes, and you probably will too. He and his team of people will be using the meeting room today until their bus is fixed."
"He's coming here?" Nancy asked as she instantly started smoothing her shirt and pants and checking her hair in the window reflection.
"Yes, he is. Maybe you should call your husband and four children and tell them," Lexi said with a joking smile.
"I've just never met anyone famous before, and to believe he is right here in Mystic Falls. Who would have thought?”
“Nancy, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t your son a pretty famous NHL player? That counts as famous.”
“Conner is just a hockey player. He isn’t famous like Liam James! How do you not know who he is?” Nancy gawked at her.
“I don’t know… I guess I don’t listen to current music much.”
“He is more than a musician. He is an icon, and he’s here in Mystic Falls! This is the biggest thing to happen here that I can remember,” she said nearly vibrating with excitement. “I mean, why was his bus even here?”
That was a fair point. Mystic Falls is an out of the way sleepy little town. It isn't really on the way to anywhere.
"Well, let's get the meeting room set up. I'm not sure what they will need, but let's set in some water, coffee, bagels and fruit. You know the drill," Lexi said, making her way to her office.
She looked over at Nancy, who was still standing at the front door on her phone.
"Nancy. We need to get the room set up. Also, we don't need to spread it around town that they are here, okay? Let's have some level of professionalism, please."
"Right," Nancy said with a sheepish grin on her face as she slid her phone back into her pocket. She stood there still as stone looking at Lexi.
"The meeting room?" said Lexi.
"Right!" She appeared to snap out of it and headed down the hall to start the set-up. Lexi would be irritated, but given she had just left her uneaten, unpaid for breakfast sitting on her table at Mae's in a similar situation, she really had no room for irritation.
She sat down at her desk and pulled up the availability to check just in case they all needed to stay overnight. Mystic Falls Inn was just a small town inn and could book up quickly. They only had twelve rooms and two cabins, but right now things were miraculously open.
If this had happened in the fall, they would be out of luck. That was high tourist season, but right now, in late June, things were more available. But hopefully they would have their bus up and running and they would be able to get back on the road. She went ahead and put a block on the rooms just in case.
Lexi stretched in her office chair. She still felt a vague fog from her earlier encounter. Coffee. She definitely needed coffee. She slipped away to pour herself some before the mass of people descended on the inn. As she filled up her cup, her phone vibrated in her pocket.
Poppy- LEXI! Is it true that Liam James is staying at the inn?
Small-town life. She would wager the whole town knew about all of this by now.
Lexi- He's not staying here. Their bus broke down and it is getting repaired. They are using the meeting room today.
Poppy- Hmmmm sounds like you guys could use a sandwich and baked goods delivery.
Lexi- Well it's either that or ask Mark to stay on since we don't serve lunch.
Poppy- Don't you dare. You take a lunch order, and I will bring them over personally. It is not something we usually offer, it would be special since you’re such a valued customer.
Lexi- Of course, this has nothing to do with you wanting to meet Liam James.
Poppy- You wound me!
Lexi- I will get back to you.
Taking a deep breath, Lexi tried to focus. This was going to be a long day; she could already feel it. Lexi was a creature of routine, and this morning was throwing her. As she made her way back to her office, her phone buzzed in her pocket again.
Josh- Head's up. Poppy is going on about something with Liam James and the inn. I think she is going to text you.
Lexi- Too late. I already told her if they need a lunch order I will be in touch.
